The Diplomats are one of those groups that we seem to forget despite recording for a number of labels including Wand, Minit, Arock, Fat Back etc. For me one of their best was cut for Dynamo and is fast becoming a want for group collectors with a copy going through Ebay at over £60 recently, but here its on offer as a mint unplayed copy at  £30

 Sticking with Chicago and another fine group is the Esquires and every one of their 45’s is a necessity. Here we have two different, but quality mid-tempo sides in unplayed condition. 'Why' gives us more of the harmony and 'Feelings' a catchy little ditty, again for the princely sum of £12.

The Impressions need no introduction. Everyone of their 45's should be the foundation of any collection. A couple of years ago their magic crossover outing 'Love Me' surfaced on Ebay via a store find, but these were the Promo copies. Amazingly the Promo's were a different mix and vocals to the issued copy, and dare I say it, a bit more earthy and better. I've got one more copy from the finder and once its gone its gone, grab it at... £30.

Johnny Bristol cut many a fine tune, and whilst the focus seems to be on his 'Handshake' outing many of his others slip under the radar. Most notably for me is this track cut for Atlantic which deserves a wider audience. His usual smooth silky vocals soar over a catchy mid-tempo groove is just right for today. OK so this modern stepper is finally getting the recognition it deserves, and being spun by numerous name DJ's on the lock down scene including Mick H. There is one for sale on Discogs at £35 and prices continue to rise on Ebay, the last one I saw going up close to $50 (plus $15 post and 20% tax of course !!). A bonus is the nice crossover flavoured modern uptempo track on the flip. Here's a mint unplayed store stock copy.......£25
