Billy Freemantle Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 It's just dawned on me that the riff on 'Looking for a woman' is very very similar to the Rolling Stones' 'Satisfaction'. What year was the Brooks Brothers record released? Keith Richards claims to have dreamt that riff and woke up and recorded it...
Pete S Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 What about Nothing You Can Do by Bobby Womack - based entirely around the Satisfaction riff - but apparently because the Stones recorded and had a hit with Womack's It's All Over Now.
Billy Freemantle Posted December 17, 2004 Author Posted December 17, 2004 Yes, that's another one. Did the Stones' version predate the Bobby Womack? And I'm still looking for a year for the Brooks Brothers!
Pete S Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 I've got a ska record which uses the Satisfaction riff as well - The Clarendonians - You can't keep me down (Island)...great track
Ernie Andrews Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 What about Nothing You Can Do by Bobby Womack - based entirely around the Satisfaction riff - but apparently because the Stones recorded and had a hit with Womack's It's All Over Now. link ER! Jerry Hipkiss Posted December 17, 2004 Posted December 17, 2004 ER! Hello! That driving beat- Willie mitchell which was released first? link Rolling Stones I believe - by a very short head...Willie Mitchell's UK release was at the end of '65, US slightly earlier. Jerry.
