Blackpoolsoul Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 (edited) I am sorry if this has been covered before Are there 2 groups ? one being Sari & The Shalimars which Manship (You Tube) says is "A 3 girl New Jersey group consisting of Sarah Sari Green, Pearl Richardson (who one lead the KODAKS) & Bunny Perritt" 1966 The other being The Shalimars "Stop and Take a Look at Yourself" which Rate Your Music has as "The Shalimars consisted of Sandi Ballant (vocals), Carolyn Berner (vocals) and Dorna Kiepke (vocals)." 1968 https://rateyourmusic.com/release/single/the_shalimars/i_love_the_way_he_calls_me_baby___stop_and_take_a_look_at_yourself/ Edited July 2, 2021 by Blackpoolsoul

Members were; Sandi Ballant (vocals), Carolyn Berner (vocals), Dorna Kiepke (vocals) Sari and the Shalimars (aka the Shalimars) recorded three 45s between 1966 and 1968 for Verve and Veep, and then pretty much vanished without a trace. Their first 45, released on Verve in 1966 as the Shalimars, ‘Stop and Take a Look at Yourself’ is revered as a Northern Soul classic. I noted also that someone on 45Cat said that Hal Wess was involved in the Verve and Veep 45's and I did see him credited on the Verve and Veep 'you walked out on me before'. Derek's Daily 45 also connects the two 45's. I have a feeling maybe JM and other contributors are both correct ? His line up names sound very plausible and we know that in the 60's group line ups changed frequently.. Billbord shows them but doesn't name them Edited July 23, 2021 by Billy Jo Jim Bob
