Chris O Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Just got this funky blues LP by singer Johnny Mars on UK Polydor 'Blues from Mars' from 1972 and on the back theres a bio and it says he was a member of burning bush who recorded 'Deep in the wilderness' on mercury, had a look and it seems this does not exist, though obviously they released 'keeps on burning' gotta be the same group? Maybe a typo or a working title for 'keeps on' or 'evil eye' ,guy looks pretty stoned on the cover maybe he forgot the title? Either way its gotta to be the dullest bit of trivia youre going to read today! 2

Dobber Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 You know what mate, i was expecting a white fella! Burning bush has that blued eyed feel to it! But then again before the power of the internet i thought jimmy radcliffe was white too 1
Chris O Posted June 5, 2021 Author Posted June 5, 2021 I know sounds like a garage record, I compared his voice to the 45 but cant really tell, maybe he just played guitar or something? 1
Michael V Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Yes,I think Johnny was lead guitarist. The flip of Burning Bush- Keeps On Burning, 'Evil Eye' is a sought after 45' by 60's US Garage/Psychedelic collectors-one of those unusual Northern 45's where the other side is coveted by Psych collectors -the flip of Esko Affair's Salt & Pepper is another example 1
Chris O Posted June 5, 2021 Author Posted June 5, 2021 ahh there you go cheers! shoestring on 20th century, the present, cobblestone etc plenty of psych bangers had dancefloor action I guess. 1
Dobber Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 Yeah mercury label certainly likes its garage/soul acts!
