Guilty Northern soul pleasure.

This might have been asked before. But here goes anyway.

What record really does it for you even though you know it's a bit naff.

Mines Tim Tam and the Turn Ons.  Wait a Minute.

There I said it. I feel a burden has been lifted.

Anybody else need to unburden.....

Hugh.

To be honest I've got loads but here's 2 that I still love but feel I shouldn't.

The Invitations     Skiing in the Snow

Bobby Paris    Night Owl

For some reason  I have never got fed up of these, not that you hear them anymore.

Some may say that's a good thing.

Hugh.

Tim Tam and the Turn Ons really is too much of a burden to have to bare for all these years mate.

But these records were all part of growing up on this GREAT scene of ours.

We all have our guilty pleasures.

Neil. Stop Girl is another great record.  Quite a rare record mate. Paid £120 for one about 20 years ago.

Got to agree Steve. Stop Girl is epic. Given the chance I play it back to back with Posse Evil.

Not one person has been open enough to say

Muriel Day . Nine times out of ten.

Rain featuring Charity Brown Out of my mind

Both where undeniably very popular

And I would bet my life no one says the Ron grainer orchestra a touch of  velvet or the Wigan joker by the all nighter band 😇

Had to say that as they are the worst records ever apart from the theme from joe90🤣😂

Obviously beer is flowing.

Rain ...classic.

The other dire beyond dire.

The flasher and interplay are both key tunes in the definition of of norvun soul...

the begining of this video clip made me laugh out well loud when I first saw it

as its almost exactly as I remember how it was at Wigan when I first heard this

I was there giving it wtf is this crap, while round me people piled on to the floor

ya have to smile right?

I think I have have a rival to Wait A Minute, as a tune that I truly had forgotten about but these posts brought it all back to embarrass me all over again so many years later.

Does anyone remember :

The Cheery People   And Suddenly

Admittedly a very poor version of Samantha Jones.

No mood enhancers either, well not tonight 🤔😎. And I'm sat out in the fresh air and the  Pembrokeshire rain at the moment waiting for the badgers to appear

Lost Summer Love, Lorraine Silver the beer is flowing and I've said it and it is now out there in the ether till the end of time.😀

Was being hammered by Russ when I first got to the Casino and one of the beauty's of a song like this is that it probably hasn't had a spin since so never pops up anybodys playlist.

Wasn't Lorraine Silver from Northamptonshire and this was just another tailor made for the Northern Scene track. Or is my memory playing tricks on me again

Thanks for your input Mike. I thought I was unburdening myself. Now I'm just getting bullied all the way from the top. 🤣👍👍

Many tunes mentioned I really like. But. Skiing in the snow. How bad is that lyric-wise? I mean, we're talking about soul music. Life. Love. Emotion. And an all-black-group is singing about "Gotta get my gear out ready for a winter spill"?

Amazing what a bit of 'poetic licence' you can get away with...after you have recorded this !!

Yes the 'vibe destroying slow break' is a difficult moment :D

I bought this years ago at Cleethorpes, and everyone in our caravan relentlessly took the p*ss out of me all weekend for doing so.  Every time someone visited our caravan, this had to be played to them for their take on it - Lots of...."This is awful"........"Sesame Street Theme Tune".....etc ....Until Chantelle from Bedford (RIP) saved the day by saying......."I love this!" Ha ha.

(£300.00 back then)

Yes totally but that quirkyness, is essentially northern soul, too. Especially when I was younger, I was always drawn to odd ball songs titles and lyrics.
