Around 1979 Rod Dearlove gave me a box of records containing spares/pressings and some unusual stuff. Within this box was a 45 on a dark purple label with the name George Martin inc. in a handwritten style emblazoned across the top. On one side was a recording of the Beatles in conversation with Diana Ross and the Supremes and on the reverse, the girls singing a track which was not recorded for Motown (Or so i believe). To my regret I no longer have the disc and have no idea what happened to it.

Has anyone got any information on this disc regarding its conception and release details? Was it a UK issue or Stateside only?

Alan T,

You`ve solved it! The label is different but yes, it was George Alexander not George Martin (which is probably why I thought the interview included the Beatles). I remember buying a UK Motown compilation LP in the 80`s of previously unreleased material - this song was on it.

Thanks for your help.
