Dayo Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Go with me on this.... If you had to choose, desert island scenario or whatever, and the choice was male vocals or female? Which would you go for? Personally, I guess I have a general preference for male vocals over female. Yeah, I know, it's a dumb question, would never happen, how can you ignore Linda Jones, Gladys Knight, Aretha blah blah blah, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has a particular preference?

Peter99 Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 Err, um ...............err hmmm, eeeeeh ....................well, eh. I don't have a clue!
Soul-slider Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 75% of my collection is male vocals, and i've got a lot of records!!! I can't stand the early girlie stuff but do love the Motown femmes.
Guest Bearsy Posted January 29, 2007 Posted January 29, 2007 I do love a lot of the female vocals but if it was a choice of one or the other i would go for men as they do have a bit more grit to them and a fair few do sound female in thier own way anyway if you know what i mean
Guest WPaulVanDyk Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 male vocals how can you not be expected never to hear Sam Cooke or Jackie Wilson
Guest 45s and 33s Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 On balance I'd have to say I prefer female vocals. Ali
Jumpinjoan Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 On balance I'd have to say I prefer female vocals. Ali Male vocals for me.... without doubt. Not something i had really thought about until the recent daily themed sounds thing started. When it came to the turn of the ladies.. i realised i had a severe lack there of... surprised me a bit actually.
Guest Bogue Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 Wouldn't be able to make up my mind, so instrumentals for me
Guest Adrian Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 My collection is about 99% male vocals, was thinking about this the other day, i think "i really should get some femme stuff", but it just does'nt do it for me. I do have a few m/f duets and some female backing vocals, but there is still so many wants i ain't going to change!
Rbman Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I'll have to pass on this as I love duets...in fact when looking through sales boxes I pick them out to listen to.....
Hold Tight Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 I am torn, my early sets always seem to be screamers and my lates sets crooners. Personally though Ladies for me.
Guest Paul Posted January 31, 2007 Posted January 31, 2007 How could anyone choose, for example, between Aretha Franklin and Al Green??? I don't think I could ...and no, I'm not bisexual. Paul Mooney
