DIGITAL PRESS RELEASE

The Northern Soul Orchestra feat. Sal & Pops

Release February 12th via Amigo/Cosmos Music

NEW SINGLE ’TRY MY LOVE AGAIN’

THE NORTHERN SOUL ORCHESTRA FEAT. SAL & POPS

The Northern Soul Orchestra is a loosely connected music collective with some of the finest session players on the European vintage soul scene. Late last year they teamed up with two young up and coming artists from Stoke-On-Trent, England. Having worked with a group of local musicians and headlined various music venues in Staffordshire and surrounding areas, the female duo Sal & Pops also run a very popular and rapidly growing YouTube channel called Passion & The Veins that is dedicated to northern soul music and dancing.

Sal & Pops met while performing alongside each other in the Shakespearean theatre ‘The New Vic’ from 2009 onwards. Their friendship grew when they joined The “Jill Clewes Academy of Theatre Arts”. Their intense love and burning passion for Northern Soul led them to dig deeper and deeper into this vibrant scene and when some footage of them dancing at a Northern Soul all-nighter went viral on Facebook, they decided to start a YouTube-channel completely dedicated to the genre.

After an invite to feature on recordings by The Northern Soul Orchestra in the summer of 2020 - but several times delayed because of national lockdowns - the first single marking the start of this new collaboration was finally released on January the 8th. ’What If’ is an original composition written and produced by Swedish soul and blues guitar supremo, Anders Lewén, originally recorded and released by fellow Cosmos Music label mate, Magnus Carlson.

The next single ’Try My Love Again’ will be released February 12th and it’s a cover of Bobby Moore’s Rhythm Aces original from 1966 on Chess Records. This new version has an addictive back beat rhythm driving it along, thereby adding a distinct ska flavour to this soul dance classic. Sal & Pops’ version was produced by Johan Wetterberg and Michel Zitron, the latter a well- established name on the international house music scene having collaborated with artists like Tiesto and Avicii and also written and produced several of the biggest hits for Swedish House Mafia.

’Try My Love Again’ is released globally on February the 12th via one of the oldest independent label imprints in the world. Amigo, a subsidiary of Cosmos Music, was founded in Sweden in 1966. The same year as the original behind this new version was released.
