Geoff B Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 always found one of the great things about collecting soul 45s is the vast array of labels and designs so thought it would be a good idea to post your favourite looking labels heres two of mine chicago,s betty label and from the west coast reness Just a couple from me,not very clear though.
Crumb Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 And its the same as US label too!!,so is it a US or UK design?. Oh yeah, didn't think of that, I suppose that would make it a US design.

Guest martinsbox Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 11874 refosoul Bill Pinkney in my data base had two 45's out on Game Records. Game 393 'Can you forgive (and forget)'/'Ol' man river' Game 394 'Millionaire'/'Ol' man river' Game 393 was released in 1970, as far as I am aware. Martin p.s. enclosed is a promo copy of his Fontana 45 'Don't call me' . . . now you can see why I prefer Black & White 45's!!
Guest mel brat Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Love the expression on the camel's face Me too. What exactly HAS that camel been smoking?? Think Escort label is best design (but then Tony Scott's "What Am I To Do?" has a special place in my own musical history!)
Guest mel brat Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Just got this photo off ebay I always thought they were badly drawn/designed, though charming in their way. I think the rococo design used on this particular label fitted our late lamented friend's interpretation of the "complex and rich musical qualities" of Deep Soul music itself however. (I seem to recall him describing it in precisely this manner!)
