What A Record

Heard this for the first time last night on American Music Makers label. Apparently Sonji is Cassius Clay's first wife, and was released just before he turned muslim.

What a record. Is it played out, who has it, who discovered it and how much is it?

Wow!

I think I read somewhere that he also created his own label 'Songee' (named after Sonji) to put out 'I Can't Wait (Until I See My Baby's Face) because he couldn't get any label interest.

Amazing voice.

Any chance of a soundclip, Mr B?

Cheers,

Jamie

ICWUISMBF - I too really like the Spyder Turner version. recently aquired on an MGM Canadian LP Promo, although if I had to choose a femme version it would be Baby Washington. I think songs of this quality transcend the actual vocalist Quality will out an ' all that. Can't thnk of a bad version of tghis song.

To my ears, the Sonji Clay version is a country mile ahead. The orchestration combined with her voice make me moist

To coin a phrase once used by my MD: "I think we'll have to agree to disagree, but on this occasion, I think you'll find that I'm right" pure poetry!

YES ITS NOT BAD ,BUT I THINK IT SOUNDS LIKE JUSTINE AND ARETHA VERSIONS AND NOT AS GOOD .

THE SONJI IS A STANDALONE . FOR ME IT IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT TO THE REST AND HAS MANAGED TO PROVIDE A GREAT CROSSOVER STYLE ALL OF ITS OWN!

CHEERS
