Eddie Frierson (Hytones) RIP

Got news through from Nashville that Eddie Frierson, the last surviving member of The Hytones, has just passed away. Pic here shows, from left, Freddie Waters, Eddie and Arthur 'Skeet' Alsup. R.I.P. Eddie.

Is it fair to assume that these chaps in the video are the hytones? Being the backing group on the recording?

Yes that's the Hytones, the girls with them are The Tides (also spelled Tydes on occasion). The Hytones appear on other Night Train footage too, including Peggy Gaines' excellent (unreleased) version of One Step Ahead.

Sad day today with Eddie & Rance leaving us. The Hy-Tones YDEKMN was one of the first northern tunes I totally fell in love in the late eighties as a teenager. RIP Eddie. 

Was Eddie related to Wendy (Rene) Frierson and thus James (fry) Frierson?
