I picked this up in a collection from a guy who used to DJ at the Chateau Impney in the late 60's and early 70's. Basically it's Earl van Dyke - 6 by 6 on both sides. It's a UK press with matrix number HT 1206. Quality is average by todays standards and sounds like it's been recorded off decks...but what a curious record. I was wondering if this would predate the Soul Sounds releases? Anyone come across this one before? Rather pointless posting up a scan of a white label but I will anyway, the other side features a very poor drawing of a mouse

Might be the 1st boot from the soul scene but it's been going on for ages off the soul scene.

Got a big Jazz collection stored away & there are some 78 rpm bootlegs in it from the 2nd world war as vinyl just didn't get into the country.

Not got a scanner but will try to get some pics of them posted up off my camera later.

Yeah I know about that mate, in fact they say that opera recordings were bootlegged in the early part of the 20th century and swapped between private collectors

So if you can be bothered to do that, when can we see the mouse? :D

It could actually be a cat. Or a rabbit. But if you can contain yourself for 2 minutes I will come up with the goods.

Hi Cunnie

I have had some Jazz and Blues ep's on that same label they dated from the late 50's - early 60s was told buy the guy that bought them that they had something to do with DOBELLS the famous Jazz record shop. Most likely the 78's are too.

This is what you get when you let a West Bromwich Albion fan do graphic design :D

As something of a "graphic designer", I think it's ok! ('course, it could do with some work...)

Of course, it could be a "Wolf" (the Wolves) being beaten with a stick! :P

Gosh! Imagine "6x6" - played at 78 RPM! Sure beats speeding up Epitome Of Sound and calling it "Moses Smith" :D:lol:

Maybe not too wise to be betting if you're sh*t at maths.

Odds are you won't be able to work out your winnings / losses :D

I am Not a Bootlegger :-)

I cut the Black Power on to 78 rpm acetate late 77! I bought an EMI 78 rpm recording machine mid 70,s ( a museum piece ) and i cut two copies of James Colt and One copy of Jimmy McFarland just for a laugh. The quality was crap as it was recorded from speakers from my Auntie Flossies music centre through to a Classic looking chrome type 'elvis' microphone onto a 1950,s cutting machine.

Small world that i have been sprung ! I am amazed !! That would be a one of as i threw the other copy out years ago. I still have the Jimmy McFarland back in Wales though, no money ever passed hands and no 45 was hurt in the tests

I still have the emi machine in North Wales if any Museum is interested to buy it!

100% true story

I was led to believe that the Soul Sounds releases date from between 1968 - 1969. Wasn't 6 by 6 a 1970 release?
