I was born and raised there - and so am used to it being misspelled all the time. The name of the city was changed from "Losantiville" to "Cincinnati" in 1790. The name comes from Lucius Cincinnatus - a Roman dictator who saved Rome from a crisis and then gave up power to return to farming...

I always thought it was a Native American name, like Chicago, Milwaukee, Muskegan, Potowotomi, Oshkosh, etc. ! We learn something new every day. Maybe if Trump loses the election, he'll actually decide to give up power to return to reality TV? Learned something new today!
