Zanetti Posted September 30, 2020 Author Posted September 30, 2020 (edited) Señor Moultrie is now also ready for once ... 395£ just a hundred gbp more although it was already finished ... still don't get it Edited September 30, 2020 by Zanetti
Zanetti Posted September 30, 2020 Author Posted September 30, 2020 Damn it! George! Unfortunately you didn't make it to Berlin. But the 686 loops were just too ambitious for this "VG+-JM-Condition"
Solidsoul Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 Sunny and the Sunliners was a £10 to £15 record for years. It was one of those popular tape swopping sounds!
Tomangoes Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 I had an original Sam Moultrie...or so I thought. Cant remember that blue bit on it? Only paid a fiver, so if I got done, it was not too bad. Ed
Andy Rix Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 Zanetti ... thank you for doing this every week... it is appreciated Andy
Midnight Drifter Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Yes, many thanks from my side as well!
Soulman58 Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 Why did I pass up on Jan Jones, when Ian Clark had it for £30 ish in his box behind the desk at collectors records in Guildford? 1

The other a black label with smaller silver writing and the label logo in blue. I think this was when Warren changed the label design to the blue logo. I still think it's a fabulous record and classic Northern Soul, since I first heard it in Wigan Casino!

It is explained here on his website https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/how-auction-works/

I was just a bit surprised that it was already shown as finished. Thanks for your feedback 1

It's like all vinyl. Passage of time and finite quantity. Simply put, we were spoilt for choice for years during the 70's, 80's and even 90's. Post 2000 it really moved up several gears. Now collectors from every corner of the world are chasing them. It's only going to continue, Russia, China, South America, when the affluent classes of these regions start to take an interest and it develops, watch what happens then. I even know of wealth management and unit trust firms who are now recognising vinyl as a potential 'asset class', similar to art and rare wine stocks. There's still time to invest at an affordable level if you have the 'knowledge', but platforms such a Discogs and Popsike will make it harder in the future for quick arbitrage gains. An area to speculate is in 'new limited run releases', but be careful as this can be a minefield and should be regarded as a more of a longer term view. Of course, this is only my view, but if you plot the trend curves across genres, it does seem to be playing out. PS - Alberto, thanks for capturing this every week, we'd lose it otherwise. YES exactly, that's what I mean. To my knowledge this has never happened before - maybe a technical error or bug. In any case, really wicked It would be mega interesting if the person who bid at 18.00 would get in touch -

I hope the dedicated collectors out there do everything they can to keep the rarities out of the hands of speculators. I get that some collectors buy in part as an investment. It’s also obvious that some dealers are paying top-dollar at auction so they can whack on a few hundred pounds of profit at set sale. Let’s hope us collectors can unite to thwart the wealth funds and asset-strippers. 1
Midnight Drifter Posted October 2, 2020 Posted October 2, 2020 One means could be selling rarities to people you know / are known in the scene. I also reckon that those funds, etc. won’t hang around here, so selling and buying through soul-source should be fine as well in order to keep them from getting stuff.. 1

Let’s hope us collectors can unite to thwart the wealth funds and asset-strippers. The scene has always had people who just buy records to sell and make money. Then there's collectors who just love the music and the collecting the great records. It's a shame that the people who love the music and collect the records, have to end up paying for it all! The speculators and dealers don't care, and have an interest in putting up the prices. Getting as much as possible for a record. I am not complaining as thats the capitalist economy working through market forces. But grass roots collectors like me, end up paying for it all! Edited October 2, 2020 by Halogen 1
