Pete S Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Just getting a little bit into barrel scraping territory now Roger! Not that I haven't enjoyed these, far from it, but Art Freeman or this aren't rare IN MY OPINION the red Art Freeman is much tougher than the white

Mick Holdsworth Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Here are a few more stocks that are probably rarer than demos .... Cheers Mick https://northern-soul-records.com
paultp Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I'm new to this game but here goes: Believe this is rarer on issue?
paultp Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Also, I was going to ask this in a seperate thread but this seems appropriate: which one is rarer and roughly what's the value of this on issue and demo?
Quinvy Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 The Christine Cooper thread got me thinking, why don't we do one on rarer issue's & demo's. So if it's one you dont see every day of the week, post it up. Here's one to kick off with.... J.B.Bingham on an issue This is a great idea for a thread. I love looking at label scans. I think I've got one that may be of interest, I'll go and dig it out. Good stuff Ady
Guest Baz Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I've always wanted to know why things on the major lables MGM RCA ect are always rarer on issue than demo such major lable have a big bit of clout behind them money wise, so why did they always press up more demos seems backwards to me, but there 'should' be thousands of the issues around (but obviously they are not) thoughts any one?
paultp Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 Same question again really; which is rarer and what's the value, also why is the demo pink?
John Elias Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 (edited) On the subject, this site is bloody interesting................. https://labelscans.anorakrecords.de/home.html Edited January 21, 2007 by dancingcollector

Baz, It's cos the majors had the money, that they pressed loads of demos, and then the record bombed, so very few issues were pressed.

Could be that the major labels would flood the radio stations with demos and only release issues if the demand was there?

Could be that the major labels would flood the radio stations with demos and only release issues if the demand was there? Quite an obvious answer really aint it I mean some of the demos that are about on MGM that only fetch £30 or say, they must have pressed up 1000's no wonder they never sold any issues, they give every one free demos so they fcuked their own market up
John Elias Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I just said that. Sorry Mr Quinvy....to coin this ...............YOU BEAT ME TO THE PUNCH
Rushden Vic Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 (edited) mgm issue carol and gerri Edited February 1, 2009 by beachcomber
Rushden Vic Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 (edited) a little off topic as this is a acetate but thought it would still be of interest as it as the old town label details and a recording date Edited February 1, 2009 by beachcomber
Rushden Vic Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 (edited) jesse johnson issue looks much nicer than the demo Edited February 1, 2009 by beachcomber
