Popular Post Greedy Posted August 15, 2020 Popular Post Posted August 15, 2020 (edited) Why is it if you post a record want either on here or any other platform sellers seem to either double or triple the going rate just cause you are looking for one. Do they automatically think you are in an auction and going to pay silly prices. I don't mean every seller just that some seem to think that they can inflate their prices Edited August 15, 2020 by Greedy Mick 4
The Tempest Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 In a nutshell yes ! But not all ! I posted a want on here and was contacted by a seller - they had the record on discogs for £50 cheaper than what they offered me on here - guess what ? I declined and bought it off them on discogs ! Unbelievable !!! 1
Stephen Houghton Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 It happens all the time, when records are advertised for sale just make them a offer and tell them its cheaper elsewhere if its inflated, its most annoying
Tricky Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 Been thinking about this a bit lately. Why not put the price prepared to pay along with the want. Save everybody’s time then.

Save everybody’s time then. I did this year's ago (can't remember the record) but put "will pay £120" obviously there would of been room to pay a bit more than that but about right I thought. Guess what.... most offers I got were about double my valuation £220/£250 or there abouts. One person pmd me and said he sold one a couple of weeks before for £140 so I wasn't far off and would of paid that. I think people reckon he/she is desperate so will pay over the odds. I've never bothered since. I presume others have more success though....Thank you...Rob Edited August 18, 2020 by Lionelonthevinyl

Julianb Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Works both ways on here. I've replied to many 'wants' enquiries only to be offered a fraction of the current valuation ( based on Popsike, reference books, info on here, discogs etc). I appreciate 'start low, you can increase your offer' but some are downright insulting and the buyers are living either in hope, or dream cuckoo land! 1

Ive found the price of the current record you sold me and the condition of the record.very good value and cheaper than others who pm me with prices that were way above the going price for the record and the condition of the record and discogs prices you beat them hands down cheers. julianb 1
Popular Post Greedy Posted August 19, 2020 Author Popular Post Posted August 19, 2020 (edited) I'm not going to mention the record I wanted so people don't get offended if they think it is them I am getting at. A few months ago I missed a record that I had forgotten about which went for £125. So I thought I'd stretch to £150. Minimum price I was offered one at was £250. A big difference in my eyes. In the end I got a mint one off a record dealers website for £100 plus p&p. Edited August 19, 2020 by Greedy Mick 4
