45cellar Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 (edited) While looking around I found this anbody got any info on this release Hi Miff As far as I am aware, this is a Re-Issue Label. The LANA copy has "Be A Man" on the B Side, the same as the Original Edited January 19, 2007 by 45cellar
45cellar Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 (edited) Cheers Roger Hi Miff I bought the Dobie Gray last year as I hadn't seen one before. The only information that I could find, was that it is a Re-Issue Label. If it is a Re-Issue Label, I'm not sure when it was issued, or how many are about. I can't find out anything regarding what was issued on this Label. Edited January 19, 2007 by 45cellar
Guest miff Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Just found this not much but it puts a date on thr label. Meanwhile, in 1964, Pete Graves restarted the Moonglows with Doc Green of The Drifters, George Thorpe, and Bearle Easton. This group recorded briefly for Lana Records, Times Square Records, and Crimson Records.

Chalky Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Label ran '64-'65 owned by Jery Greene, Nat Segal, Jared Weinstein out of Philly. Quite a few acts on the label such as the Shangrilas (Leader...), Cadillacs, Lee Andrews & Hearts, Del Shannon, Silhouettes (Get A Job), Ritchie Valens, Champs (tequilla).

Hi Chalky Thanks once again, I have just had a look on GEMM Some Titles are described as Early Re-Issue, Doo-Wop, 2nd etc So it isn't a Re-Issue label, as such, then, as these two must have been released around the same time as the Golden World & Charger Label, I would assume. I notice the record gives a New York address yet the address here is 1005 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia. 50 odd releases on the label and it's related to the Collectables, Crimson, Lost Nite, Renee, Sound & Teen labels according to R&B indies.

pikeys dog Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Castaways - Liar Liar came out on the label as well, so it wasn't all Doo-Wop and Soul
Guest Bogue Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 I always thought those Lana's were boots ? Or are we using the posh ebay term now ?
