Dave Thorley Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 What's the chances eh? Slightly different backing track on this one. I think your making these in you bedroom
harly7 Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 What's the chances eh? Slightly different backing track on this one. I actually really liked that one Pete !
Pete S Posted January 18, 2007 Author Posted January 18, 2007 Yeah it's a good one. This isn't credited to Rodd Keith and I think it's only on an LP, I'll tell everyone what it is once I've found a copy for myself!
franz Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Yes, this is at least better than "I'm a man". Your obsession with Rodd Keith is becoming a bit frightening tho, Pete
Mace Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Yeah, quite good that Pete. P.m. me the L.P details and I'll find you one mate... 1

Your obsession with Rodd Keith is becoming a bit frightening tho, Pete I just think it's interesting finding new versions of well known tracks...that's why I liked that one with the Youngblood Smith backing track (which I never did get actually)

Is this the thing that was being played off acetates for a bit? " That's not a woman's way" by Detroit something-or-other - my memory is a bit sketchy now. If it's the same thing then i was told at Cleethorpes by the Grapevine fellas that it was being put on vinyl last autumn. Have yet to see one though. Would love to get that. Stomperoo! If it's not that please accept my apologies - I'll get my coat. martin
Guest Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 No,not as good........bet is off one of them cds.
Guest Stuart T Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 What's the chances eh? Slightly different backing track on this one. Chances are possibly relatively high as Rod Keith appears to have spent his time recording tracks for songwriters as demos, he recycled backing tracks over and over again. Does that make it 4 now over this backing that have come to light or is it more? I bet the poor sods who paid him thought that they were getting a unique track. He did a couple of hundred songs apparently. Think I may have guessed the LP? RR?

As far as I can tell, this track isn't on any 45 - it's not on the Preview label by the way - it's on another song poem label, and it's not on a reissue cd so the only place to get it is on this LP. Not sure what your guess was to be honest Stuart but those initials don't match anything.

Manfromsoul45s Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 Me and a couple of friends were at the Austin record show back in the late eighties and found 3 different versions of the lord said by Rodd Keith. The lyrics on one of them was just terrible. I think there is at least 4-5 versions with the same backing
Soul-slider Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 (edited) These are all the ones I know with the same backing: Like The Lord Said Gloria I'm A Man If You Don't Like It Don't Knock it Don't You Tempt Me (BTW Manfromsoul I just ordered Spi-Dells and Casinos from you ...oh I love a bit of blue-eyed! You got any Rodd Keith?). Edited February 14, 2018 by Soul-Slider
Andyf Posted February 14, 2018 Posted February 14, 2018 I've got Gloria, but the lyrics of that aren't quite poet laureate status either. Is there just the backing track lurking on an acetate somewhere?🤔
