Hi, I don't know if anything similar has been posted on this topic before, but I can't find it at all. However, it has been driving me around for a long time and I would love to know. Here in the forum as well as in the web you won't find anything - or some fragments.

Which DJ has made which Dig presentable?
Which Soul45 is indispensably connected to the following DJ?

I believe this question is mainly for the veterans among us, but of course I'm very happy about any kind of feedback from anyone.
I've been on this forum for almost 10 years now and in the meantime you know some of the current and former scene stars. Through many record purchases and record sales you sometimes get a little bit into conversation ...  
I try to list names I know chronologically (but I can also be completely wrong - feel free to correct me) and hope for an active participation, which may extend over several pages in the course of time. Would be brilliant. Thank you very much and I really appreciate your time and participation.

I apologize very much if I forgot a DJ that should also be mentioned here and I hope for your indulgence and at best for a supplement on your part.

So, which style-defining Soul45 can be clearly assigned to which DJ:

Russ Winstanley - Frank Wilson -Do I Love You ( even if he probably didn’t have an original copy ,he was the first to play it ) .Ian Levine - The Carstairs ,a defining record as it was one of the first records of a different style to be played .Butch ,any number of one off exclusive records ,but his Mighty Lovers cover up would ,in my opinion be the record that defines him .Good shout with Richard Searling - Cecil Washington ,another special one would be Little Ann - What Should I Do ,one of the longest lasting cover ups as Rose Valentine ,and he still has the only known original test pressing .

Pat Brady - Junior McCants - Try Me For Your New Love - King .Massive at Stafford covered up as Little Carl Carlton - Hey Little Girl .Guy Hennigan- Jackie Day - My Naughty Boy .Another Massive Record at Stafford covered up as Shirley Matthews and The Belles .Ginger Taylor - Burning Bush - Keeps On Burning - Mercury .This was massive in the 70’s and Ginger had the only copy for a while at Cleethorpes .I remember Richard getting a copy and saying the first time he played it “ I got this for Wigan “ ...

I think you could narrow it down to Levine and Anderson who introduced the majority of US import NS and modern above and beyond anybody else by a street mile.

Gary Rushbrooke. The four tracks   like my love for you. Covered as the fantastic four massive late casino  Stafford. Also Bobby valentine use it before you lose it covered as rex garvin  massive Stafford. Sound Keb   Tony Galla. In love covered as winfield Parker massive at Stafford remember him guesting at Morecombe pier  he played it 4 times  much to the annoyance of the regulars who wanted modern, us travellers from Stafford  loved it.

Les Cokell said he discovered The Four Tracks and played it at The Mecca - it would certainly fit as it's a very 'Les' record and it was the only one he laid claim to - to me at least. Dx

Always Thought The Little Ann Releases Were Issued By KENT (Town/Select)?

Does Exist An Original USA 45?

Little Ann - What Should I Do was a long standing cover up for Richard Searling as Rose Valentine “ When He’s Not Around “ .There is one US test pressing credited to Ann Bridgeforth ,which Richard still has .Its real identity was unknown until Gilly and Tats were at Dave Hamilton’s studio in the 90’s and he played it on a reel to reel tape for them along with a bunch of other tracks .Gilly managed to hook Dave Hamilton up with Ady and Ace Records and the rest is history .

Betty Boo was an unissued track that John Anderson got from either Popcorn Wylie or Ollie McLaughlin in the 70’s along with many other previously unissued master tapes .Again Richard Searling was the first to play them ,at Wigan Casino .

My Mate Rob Thomas must've had either a tape or Acetate of Betty Boo vocal and Instrumental in the 70's because his younger Brother Martin did a male vocal over the Instrumental on a tape for me , not bad either tbh.

No it was never previously issued - RS will have played it off an EMIdisc/newly cut Acetete made from the tape. It was later released legally licensed to Grapevine of course - which since had never previously been issued can be considered the 'original' release. Dx

I can imagine over the last 55 years? Some if not all DJs have been linked to certain tracks whether a cover up, new discovery, or only they seemed to hammer it.

My earliest recollections were

John Vincent was playing this in the Morecambe Pier Allnighters in the early 1980's! A long time before Butch played it!

He had it covered up as a different artist.  I think it was Leonard Wayne and the Hi-tones "Look Back and Laugh".

I remember we were all very impressed at the time!  Lots of quality 60's newies were still being found then on record and acetate.
