Guest Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 (edited) History Of A Soul Song. Setting: Late Summer 1967 Sitting On A Rock In Central Park. It's Concieved By Two Men, By Now Seasoned Songsmiths, One With A Guitar The Other With A Bottle Of Rum. Whilst Strumming Some Chords The Two Throw Lyrics Back And Forth Until The Heart Of The Song Begins To Pump And The Melodia Takes Shape... Jimmy's Acoustic Original: (from the soon to be released "Acoustic Soul" Album feature the original versions of his classic songs like "Deep In The Heart Of Harlem", "A Suburban Town", "All For The Kids", "My Block", "Show Me The Sunshine" and the Joey Brooks Big Ballad "My Ship Is Coming In") Una_Bella_Brazilian_Meoldy__c_.mp3 Before Long The Two Men Have Completed Two Songs, The Lovely Lilting Ballad "Una Bella Brazilian Melody" and A Blues Song "I Feel The Tears Coming On", And Decide To Head Down Town To Cut A Couple Of Quick $50 Dollar Demos Before Hitting The Publishers At 1650 Broadway, The Heart Of Present Day Tin Pan Alley. First And Last Stop Is To See Card Playing Mate Clyde Otis. Clyde Immediately Buys The Two Songs ($150 Each) With The Intention Of Taking Them To A Recording Session Scheduled For The Following Day With Ruby And The Romantics. He's Hoping To Help Lou Zito At ABC Records Breath New Life Into Ruby And The Fella's Staling Record Sales And "Una Bella" Feels Like It Might Just Be The Thing. 02___Una_Bella_Brazilian_Melody.mp3 Ruby & The Romantics Cut To Two Years Later Spring Of 1969. Jimmy & Bert DeCoteaux Are Helping A Group Of Young Talents, Formerly Known As The Poets Now Called The Main Ingredient, Pull Together Material For Their First LP, Behind The Hit "You've Been My Inspiration", on RCA. Jimmy Feels That A Reworking Of The Song Would Be A Perfect Fit For Their Vocal Harmonies So He And Bert Set Out To Create The Backing Track In Between Carolyn Franklin Sessions At RCA's Studio 'C' (Jim Crotty And Ray Hall Engineering). 1970 RCA Releases "Chain Reaction" By Carolyn Franklin and "L.T.D." By The Main Ingredient. 03___Una_Bella_Brazilania_Melodia.mp3 The Main Ingredient Edited January 19, 2007 by Mangomn2003
Guest Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 The Follow Up To "My Ship Is Comin' In" Twould Have Been "Feels Like Lovin'". The Songs Use In The Film "Carmen Baby" Might Have Helped Fuel That Release But There Were Other Musical Endeavors Brewing So "Feels Like Lovin'" Never Made It To Market. Well At Least Until Now... Feels_Like_Lovin_.mp3 There's A 7" 45 Acetate Of This In The For Sale Box.
