Diggin' Dave Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 Diggin' Dave 45s List - May 2020 After two months of hiding in the record room and going through some old boxes, it's time to get the ball rolling again. Pretty big list this time including some (heavily) reduced stuff. Shipping is €10 to anywhere in the world for any number of records from the list. Int'l signed for is €16 FULL LIST WITH SOUND AND PHOTOS CAN BE CHECKED HERE: https://mailchi.mp/fefe0b008049/1nc6s8682q-2720628 The Sheepherders with Bubba Bailey – If ever you need me / By the time I get to Phoenix – Sounds International 638 Rare Virginia northern dancer with a funky edge. From the same band that later recorded 'It's an explosion' as Royale VII. Plays perfect. Visual grade: VG to VG+ €1100 Ray Charles – Hey now / Baby won’t you please come home – Swing Time 297 First, rarest and most collectable 45 from one of the giants in the (soul) music world. Only found one recorded previous sale of this from back in 2014 that went for more, but this copy is definitely cleaner. Visual grade: EX €300 Dan Kirby – Treatment / Only for today – Young Generation Completely unknown Carolina garage 45. Only known copy as far as I’m aware and a pretty cool one too. Visual grade: VG, slight warp NAP €200 Matthew Barnett – If your love is real / My only love – Puff 1005 My last copy of this rare Detroit northern double-sider. Looks excellent and plays perfect. Has two hairline marks visible on both sides when held under a bright light. No affecting play but knocked something off the price to reflect this imperfection. Visual grade: EX €200 Changing Tymes – You live only once / Try it once again – AMG 8034-31 Sought-after modern with a rarer version of the Imperial Wonders tune. Visual grade: EX to M- €170 Prepositions – Do what ever turns you on Pt I/II – Movement 2 Early 70s Detroit funk. Highly recommended and tough to track down. Visual grade: EX €150 Jackie Shane – Comin’ down / In my tenement – Sue 788 Two slices of R&B fire, Comin’ Down always had the edge for me so recorded that side, but any of the two makes it worth snapping up. Visual grade: EX €150 The New Editions – Wastin’ no time / Vargo – New Edition 1000 Two slices of driving Philly funk. Super clean copy. Visual grade: EX €140 Diane Jenkins – Recycle / Gee baby, what about you – Creative Funk 12003 Sister funk with a message and a beautiful deep flip. Visual grade: Strong VG+, warp NAP €130 Billy and The Moonlighters – Little Indian girl / You made me cry – Crystal Ball 101 Raw R&B cut that was recorded in 1961 but only got released 16 years later. You wonder what took em so long as it’s such a monster. This is an original of course. Visual grade: EX €130 Pat Hodges – Ain’t watcha got / My man, my man – HME 56928 Gritty sister funk killer from the James, Smith & Crawford Hodges Visual grade: M-, slight warp NAP €120 The Hesitations – Is this the way to treat a girl / Yes I’m ready – GWP 504 Mid-tempo northern magic. This one always tends to be scratchy when found ‘in the wild’ this one’s by far the cleanest I’ve ever come across. Visual grade: M- €120 The Mighty Elegant – I find myself, falling in love with you / I don’t know what it is, but it sho is funky – Jaber 7115 Essential sweet ballad with a bass-heavy funk flip. Visual grade: M- €100 Mickey Champion – Wait for me / My troubles are ended – Lilly 45-509 DJ Copy Super obscure Cali doo wop R&B that never shows up, let alone in this condition. This is the same Mickie Champion that later recorded the Northern classic on Musette. Visual grade: M- €100 Billy Hamlin – Would it make any difference to you – Stout Ultra obscure deep soul with potential on the popcorn scene. Way rarer than ‘Got no bread’. Visual grade: EX €100
