Popular Post Jmsoul Posted May 17, 2020 Popular Post Posted May 17, 2020 (edited) Here is the third and final part... Her story in her words, in the third part we continue her story from Epic Records to becoming the first female Artist release music on her own Label, Ms B. Her career spanned over 50 years and her music always remained relevant. Plus the story behind her helping to launch the career of Joss Stone. Here is the second part.... Her story in her words, in the second part we continue her story from Alston to Epic Records plus a focus on her many collaborations as a Vocalist, Producer, Arranger and Songwriter including with her siblings Milton, Phillip, Charles & Jeanette. Celebrating the music of Betty Wright. You would think she only had a handful of releases seeing the media coverage! This is exactly why I feel these Artist Specials and Tributes are so important as their legacy is rarely properly documented. She started her singing career aged 2 years old!! Not only producing an impressive body of work she stayed relevant over 5 decades. Nominated for 5 Grammy awards. The first Black Woman in the states to achieve Gold sales for an Album on her own label back in the 80s! She had a key hand in the careers of many directly and indirectly. An innovator Singer, Songwriter, Arranger, Producer and Mentor. She has most definitely made a significant contribution to the Music we all enjoy perhaps more than you know... I am fortunate enough to be able to allow her to tell her own story, in her words using an interview I did with her some years ago. It was only last year I saw her again with David Nathan who presented her with a Hall Of Fame Award. Fantastic she was able to still feel the love and appreciation from British audiences after all these years. Here is the first part which covers the Early Years more to follow...
