THE VIBRATIONS: Shake It Up * CHESS, tiny edge chip nap, M-, 425.- Euro
Superb rare Groove Modern Soul rarity on Chicago's Chess label, but this here has Philly written all over it. Bunny Sigler on writing credits and the arrangement is by Vince Montana.
LITTLE RON JOHNSON: I Keep Telling You * HARD TIMES, Vinyl VG++, labels water damaged, 200.- Euro
A Vibrato-Guitar sets the tone for one of the most distinguished soul sounds on the scene today. Soulful to the max and a beat, that it's hard to resist. Shame about the labels, which are really badly water damaged, but hey, it's in the grooves what counts and this copy is shiny and clean on the vinyl side. Sold for twice as much on an auction recently.
PEACE AND LOVE: We Got The Power * RAFF, VG-, 175.- Euro
Mexico only Latin Soul with an irresistable groove, some great vocals and a breakdown to die for. Record has numerous light scratches and plays great. A rare and widely unknown record, that got all the ingredients to crossover to soul venues.
THE WOO WOO'S: Spooky Grinder / Ooh Ooh..! * HOTPIE & CANDY, VG+, 100.- Euro
This is a Poets Of Rhythm release under one of their numerous aliases. Two hard hitting funk sides for you to consider... The only other copy available is on discogs and the joker wants more then 600 bucks for it, so I guess this price here is a bit more realistic.
GETTO KITTY: Stand Up And Be Counted * STROUD, VG+ to VG++, 75.- Euro
1972 funky soul burner, that looks like an ex copy, but has some mild crackles on one of the channels during the intro, hence the low price tag. A perfect DJ copy!
LEE McDONALD: Gotta Get Home / Show Me * DEBBIE, M-, 75.- Euro
Outstanding Modern Soul stepper from 1979. Top side is on the rare LP by Lee McDonald a s well, but the 7" provides a different compared to the LP-take. Flip it over for a beautiful slow jam.
JOHN WILLIAMS & THE TICK TOCKS: Do Me Like You Do Me / Blues Tears And Sorrows * TOU-SEA, promo, 60.- Euro
Great New Orleans soul on either side. The uptempo dancer "Do Me..." is a Northern Soul favourite and the ballad side "Blues, Tears And Sorrow" is Deep Soul at it's finest.
DEBBIE S.: Try My Love * FLAMING ARROW, M-, 60.- Euro
Flawless copy (except the weird label cut off) of this amazing Detroit mellow groover. Super soulful vocals and a dreamy two-step arrangement. Highly recomended!
THE WHOLE DARN FAMILY: Half Of Seven Minutes Of Funk / Ain't Nothing But Something To Do * SOUL INTERNATIONAL, M-, 1st press, 60.- Euro
Genuine first press of this funky 70's mover (second press has an Amherst distribution adress on the label). Unfortunately the first presses are styrene and all copies I ever came across plays slightly hissy and so does this copy here. Nothing to bad and the record cleans up nicely after a few seconds. This is of course the great and underrated Tyrone Thomas behind this super clubby funky soul spin.
TOMMIE YOUNG: Hit & Run Lover * SOUL POWER, wol, VG-, 50.- Euro
Slightly wounded copy of this immense funky soul masterpiece for less trhen half of the going rate. This copy plays with mild pops and light crackles, but no skips. Check the soundbyte before ordering and get yourself a bargain.
FAUNS BELL: Gift Of Love / Who Did It * WAVE, M-, 50.- Euro
Rare and great sweet soul 45, that lurks heavy into "mellow groove"-territory on the top side. So 2-step fans have a listen. Flipside is a kind of funky free soul dancer and great in it's own right.
TOMMY BRYANT: I Wanna Come Home To You Baby * T-NECK, promo, M-, 40.- Euro
Totally underrated Northern Soul dancer on the Isley Brother's owned label. Uptempo, soulful and produced to perfections by the Isleys. I've never seen an issue of this and I doubt, that they exist. Anyway, great uptempo 60's soul for the dancefloor.
WILLIE WRIGHT & HIS SPARKLES: Got A Feelin' / What Will I Say * FEDERAL, VG++, 40.- Euro
Classy R&B with a mighty fine deep side with lead vocals by Jesse Anderson. I'm pretty sure, that this Willie Wright has nothing to do with the "Right On For The Darkness"-guy, but who knows? The songwriter, Jesse Anderson is definitely the Chicago fella, who recorded some great tunes for Chess and Thomas. Anyway, two great sides for you to consider.
FREDDIE HUBBARD feat JEANNIE TRACY: You're Gonna Lose Me * FANTASY, M-, 40.- Euro
Mindblowing good jazzy Modern Soul stepper featuring the vocals of Jeannie "Making New Friends" Tracy. Flawless copy here and simply way to good to ignore.
RICK LANCELOT: Sick Chick / Ain't That Soul * PEPPERMINT STICK, VG+, wol label flipisde, 40.- Euro
Rare 60's soul two-sider and this is Rick Lancelot's only independent release. He had a handful 45s on RCA and one on 2oth Century, this here seems to be rather rare and it's a good dancer as well.
GEORGE McCANNON, III: Seven Million People * FUN' 45, VG++, mild label damage, 40.- Euro
A forgotten Northern Soul oldie, that had quite some following back in the days and it sounds freash as a daisy today. A record, that you don't see everyday.
OTTO DE ROJAS Y LOS ULTRAS 76: Al Ritmo Del Bump-Bump * RCA, Made in Peru, VG to VG-, 30.- Euro

SAM "IRONING BOARD" MOORE: I Laugh / This Is A New Day * SANSU, M-, 30.- Euro
Keyboarder and singer 'Ironing Board Sam' was a travelling musician, who got his nickname from a gig, where no keyboard rack was available and he used an ironing board for replacement. In the mid seventies he stranded in New Orleans and recorded for Allen Toussaint some remarkable 45s. This offering has two great super soulful 70's soul sides.
Z.Z. HILL: Don't Make Promises (You Can't Keep) / Set Your Sights Higher * KENT, M- 30.- Euro, on hold
Such a great and underrated two-sider! This shares the same backing track as Eddie Rey's "I've Got Something Of Value", but this one has definitely the better lead vocals and sells for a fraction of Eddie Rey. The flip is great as well and deserves more attention.
DIAMOND JOE: The ABC Song / Look Way Back * DEESU, promo, M-, 30.- Euro
Excellent, hard hitting Nola funky soul produced by Allen Touissant and Marshall Sehorn. Diamond Joe recorded some fabulous 60's side for Sansu records and is surely one of the most underrated vocalists from the the Big Easy. Flip it over and you see what I mean; facemelting deep soul by Joseph Maryland aka "Diamond Joe". A truly gifted singer; a rough edged, fast moving soul. He was possessed of a gruff baritone that could move from a growl to the most subtle whisper within a few minutes of music. He died homeless in 2010 in his hometwon New Orleans and only recorded seven 45s and every single one is as good as this here.

ERNIE SHELBY: Punish Me / Bend Over Backwards * POLYDOR, M-, mild storage warp, 25.- Euro
Polydor's A&R man for soulmusic definitely had good taste, some great records came out on this major label. Most of them didn't sell at all and are highly collectable these days. Especially the issues, that in many cases have the better track on it then the mono/stereo promos. Here we have an overlooked Muscle Shoals production co-written by Phillip Mitchell (flipside is co-written by George Soule, who also played drums on both sides) and produced by Clayton Ivey and Terry Woodford.
