Has anybody ever been to a venue that sounded ex, but poorly attended.

Me and my wife a couple of yrs ago went from stoke to Wigan courts down in the basement, and the only people there apart from us was the djs and organisers. The tunes were Brill, beer prices good, and you could get on the dancfloor easy. We didn't go back but had a top night chatting and dancing

Colwyn Bay pier, sometime mid to late 80's I think we counted less than 20 in. Probably the coldest night of the winter, no heating on inside I stuck it until about 2o'clock and went home.

It must have been 2003 (something like that) We went to an All-nighter at I think was Nantwich. Not 100% sure of the date, but it was of a time when everywhere was still busy with generally the same people.  I remember it was winter time, the venue had a small step with little spot lights at the front.  Anyway, we were really confused because there was hardly anyone there (Other folk I remember being there were Souly, and back door Kenny)

It was very strange for a place to be so poorly attended at that time.

Another strange one was when Winsford was really quiet - After all the fantastic nights there, all of a sudden one night not many in at all.

Len. Trust all is well my friend 🤗. Winsford in its transition period between Pete Hollander leaving the promoting and me getting involved really struggled for a few nighters but it gradually  improved to healthy numbers again, nothing like the times of the 700 -800  soulies but we got there.

Nantwich. The only nighters i remember where at Nantwich civic . That had spotlights around the edges of the dance floor. Fantastic venue that got ruined when the council re-furbished it

Somewhere near Leicester Square in the early 90s. Keb Darge was DJing, and occasionally dancing. There was me on my own, a skinhead type with two Japanese girls over the other side, and... er... that was it.

Redcar in the mid-80s. 4 hour slog to get there from Manchester. Miserable cold rainy night. 10 people in. Dire.

I also remember a Colwyn Bay incident in the mid-80s. The sound system broke or something. I remember someone putting on their cassette player and we were all trying to make do and pretend we were still happy. But we weren't.

Went to a do in Dewsbury can't remember the date, reckon it was after 2000. It  was a two roomed event, northern and modern. Think Rick Scott was one of the djs, there was more bar staff, doormen and djs than punters.

Posted this a few years back...

In the winter of 1980 , I went to Wigan on a lambretta.  I picked my mate up from Pelsall near Walsall  (Timmy Thacker). , and in the freezing cold, we rode all the way up the M6, 80 odd miles , and it even started to snow and sleet . we were going flat out at 55 mph and had to stop at every services else we'd have froze to death.

My scoot was a 1969 GP125 id bought for £50 dragged out of a neighbours shed.. we had no AA, no tools or mechanical knowledge   , but we made it ... Went down a one way street in Wigan  ( the wrong way) and cars flashing us    , then got to the Casino,

we leaned the scoot against the wall on the side of the Casino cus the stand was broke.  I remember the place was nearly empty, just a couple of hundred there, which was nothing for the Casino !  it was a crap night really, and the next morning, my bike was still there, and we had to bump start it outside .

The exhaust cracked as we got on the M6 and it was deafening all the way home and losing power..  nearly got wiped out by a few lorries, but made it home...

I can still picture Timmy on the back with his Fonze style leather bomber jacket shivering to death .

we were only 18 and it was one of the madder things ive done.... To this day, I can remember it clearly.

But we did it... and every time i see Timmy , he says "remember when we went to Wigan on your scooter mick ! "
