Dazcymru Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 Without doubt we've lost one of the best. No mater what Chico played be it rarest of the rare or a £1 record he played it with the same enthusiasm. He certainly knew how to create an atmosphere and get the crowd on the dance floor. No politics just great music. RIP my friend I am going to miss you. 3

Gazoor Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 I haven't seen Chico for a while probably since some do or other around Lancashire after Keele closed. Met him at Keele first, I think(?), we used to buy and swap tunes - he was usually about with Mark.. can't remember his last name.. but we had lots of happy times sharing thoughts on tunes and 'being constructive' over each others prices .. Lovely, lovely lad .. R.I.P. .. me and my families best to his loved ones... I am truly sorry for your loss. 1

Popular Post Mark Bicknell Posted March 29, 2020 Popular Post Posted March 29, 2020 I wanted to write something yesterday but was unable to find the words I still can't , Chico was a true friend and a gentleman, when I moved up to North Wales in the late 80's as soon as we met we warmed to each other and a friendship was formed over our mutual passion and love for all things Soulful, I found out about this tragic news yesterday lunch time and broke down, I've not spoken to him or seen him in a while but we alway's had a catch up over the years talking often about records and putting the world to rights, we ran gigs together when I lived there and helped kick start the North Wales scene again, spent many happy hours in my flat with him again alway's records were our common ground and passion, he was one of the kindest most genuine man I have ever met, we share the same birthday and I had a joint party with him when I turned 40 which was a memorable day. To quote Darrow Fletcher here "The Pain Just Gets A Little Deeper" which sums up how I and many people are feeling right now who had the pleasure of knowing him, my thoughts are with his dear wife Pat and their two lads at this horrible time, he was a hell of a pool player, fine DJ with a deep passion, love and understanding of what he truly loved Soul music, the Soul scene has lost a top man who had time for everyone, so sad. Mark Bicknell. 12
Gilly Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Can only echo what others have said, though only saw him a couple of times a year I always felt the friendship was set. Gilly and Nicola 2

Drew3 Posted March 29, 2020 Posted March 29, 2020 Following on from John Hart's post above, I thought I'd add what I felt/feel is a wonderful brief statement by Chico as part of a record buying PM with me. "Drew, I'm just back from the Hitsville weekender in Spain... & just picked up your message... Yes, record still here, but I'm off to the Skeggy weekender later.." The man certainly knew how to live life to the full"!!!! Regards. Drew. 1

Popular Post John Elias Posted April 3, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 3, 2020 Rest in peace Glyn aka Chico We first met at the local Tech college in 1971,we wore the same clothes(mod/skinhead attire) and loved soul music of course. We lost touch for many years until around 1997 when I came onto the northern soul scene proper. Saw a lot of him and his wife Pat (who I knew from teenage years growing up in Llandudno). I'll be honest we had our differences of opinion over the years (soul related!). Absolutely devastated at the sad news the other day,it won't be the same without you pal. Condolences to Pat and the boys and all his close family and friends. God bless you soul chef x 4
