Chalky Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 the boots the same or with a yellow label, thiough yoiu can tell by the print quality the boot from the original. The original has the titles scratched in the run out groove too.
Julianb Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Mr Manship says the boot is sky blue and the originals are either sky blue or yellow and the titles are scratched in on both sides. This causes me a problem as mine is yellow with the title on the 'alone' side + the date 2/18/71 scratched in BUT NOT on the A side - only Dontee 103 A and something like T with a V underneath C. I'm assuming it's a 'real one' Julian

Ady Potts Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Isn't it a second issue anyway as The Contemplations is the first issue? That's right Dazz, The Contemplations was 1969. The dates in the dead wax.
Chalky Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Isn't it a second issue anyway as The Contemplations is the first issue? The story I was told was that Rock Candy had the one side only and nothing for the flip so "Alone With No Love" was stuck on the flip and name changed from Contemplations to Rock Candy.

Either way, it was as 'Rock Candy' that the record first got spins at the end of 1974 (by Ian Levine) Also reviewed in Black Music magazine by him.
