The Ellingtons - (I'm not) Destined to become a loser b/w The agony of the ecstasy - Castle #102

Made in vinyl with Blue label with silver text and logo

F/W + LP 367004 scratched in run out

Had this tucked away in a box for years thinking it was a boot from the 70's but cannot seem to find any info on it and have started questioning my sanity?

Anyone got any ideas on it?

I am sure Manship sold one for £400 (seems expensive though) £150- £200 on Popsike 

I had never seen a photo of them before until recently (how cool after all these years have passed by)

There was a thread here as well about the Dark Blue

Bobby Aceto, Sonny Aceto, Rob Russen, Nick Criaris and Rudy Wilson.

Thanks so much for the reply Blackpoolsoul and the link to the other thread. I did a search on SS earlier but didn't find that thread.

I always thought it was a reissue but seems like I was wrong?

One of the better mistakes I have made 😉

have got both the millionaires & the ellingtons 45s...…..the millionaires as a frankford wayne stamp but the ellingtons doesn't, but believe that all or most of the ellingtons vinyl are pitted and have bubbles in vinyl. the posters copy is defo real

My Ellingtons definitely was pitted and had bubbles in the vinyl as above.

Thanks for all the replies folks

I think many moons ago i must have mixed up the Millionaires with the Ellingtons and i presumed it was a boot/reissue cos there was no stamp, which of course I now realise it never had a stamp in the first place LOL

Like I said earlier, one of my better mistakes

Steve it's not quite the end (hope you don't mind)

As the Millionaires (different groups) came up here and in a previous thread 12 years ago, I thought I would do some research

I contacted Rob Russen and he has Kindly supplied this information and I believe he is joining Soul Source and hopefully will join in 😀

This is definitely an original issue copy of my band's record.  I know well as I wrote it, produced it, performed in the band and own the label.  Rob Russen

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "The Millionaires as a Nashville stamp..."  The records were produced in Camden, NJ and pressed in Philadelphia.  Nashville had nothing to do with either of my Ellingtons and Millionaires releases.  Rob Russen

As founding member of the Ellingtons band, writer and producer of our songs I assure you this is a bootleg.  I have no idea who T.N.J.s are or how they can claim to be producers of my song as they do not have a license from me to do so.  Please do not buy bootlegs of my music.  Rob Russen

Hello Rob, thank you for taking the time to comment. It's great when the original artists are able to be involved all these years later. I have both of the original 45's and have always enjoyed them!! I think the previous comment referred to a  "Mastered By Frankford Wayne" machine stamp in the deadwax rather than the Nashville stamp. The Ellingtons 45 has "F/W" scratched in the deadwax which I assume also refers to Frankford Wayne.

sorry rob, off course your right it as a frankford wayne stamp ooops, should look before I write next time! just a quick question as said my copy as pressing bubbles in the vinyl....are they all like this or just a batch? great record btw a real part of my youth

Thanks for commenting on this.  As I stated originally everything about it is wrong so no one should have been under any illusion that it was legit (wrong color, no logo, no writer credits, inaccurate producers as you state (that aren't even on the original pressing), even the title is incorrect! and the B side is the same track. This was pressed up late 70s (78/79 I would guess) as your record was 'in demand' as played heavily at Wigan Casino at the time.  No idea who pressed it and also no idea of how many are still floating around.  Not even listed on Discogs (who would probably ban it from sale in an case).  It is listed on 45Cat here: https://www.45cat.com/record/102us19

Thanks .... That's weird as it's not listed under Ellingtons releases ... you have to click 'Unofficial' to see it! ... but as suspected it is blocked from sale (JM's got it on his site for £15).

P.S.  The last 'original' to sell that I can find on on Popsike was April 2018 and went for £218:
