Me & the missus are thinking of attending a weekender and as I haven't been to one since the late seventies I'm not sure which one would best suit our taste in music.

We go to a few local events that play mostly northern/motown/club classics etc so that sort of play list would be ideal.

I'm not into the rare & underplayed stuff, and want to mostly hear sounds we might know so any advice would be welcomed.

I live in Doncaster but willing to travel for a good event. !

Thanks

Neal

Bridlington!

For the wide variety of sounds .  5 rooms:

main ballroom is classic Northern soul and current floor fillers

Motown cafe: does what it says on the tin, classic 60’s & 70’s Motown

Clubroom:    Spotlights clubs from across the country, this is my favourite room, you hear a fabulous range of stuff in here

Then there are the Modern, Rare and Boogaloo/Mod rooms .

Remember , every room has its own bar and proper dance floor .  So no wandering about , looking for a drink

I have tickets , should you decide to buy some . £30 for the whole weekend

Nice to see my old friend Dave is still doing what he does

Even the Mascot is advertising him with the R for Raistrick, I wonder if that's why he picked the venue ?

Blackpool International Soul Festival the biggest and probably the best for what you want.  some great live acts too.  Blackpool Tower, Whitby, Brid main room, Skeggy in September main room also oldies. There are others but these are probably the most popular for the oldies lovers.

Cleethorpes used to be the best till Ady stopped running it, haven’t been since for one reason or other.

Festival of Soul, Murcia ..where you can get the 3 s'..

Sun

Soul

and

Sangria ( what did you think)

Where else can you have the best DJ's  viz Dave Evison of Wigan Casino fame, the brilliant I've Got Something Good crew and the well respected Charity Soul guys Sammy Seaman, Gregg Gowlar etc plus knowing that your attendance will help in fighting the God awful disease that is prostate cancer
