Tomangoes Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 He epitomised Wigan Casino for me. The other djs spread themselves around more. Only went a couple of times, so it would be unfair to judge one way or another. I'd be surprised if anything new gets revealed to all the other programmes made about it. YOU NEVER KNOW! Ed 2

Russ is a top man in my books. Stuart Maconie is excellent value. Both Wigan men, I’d expect them to do justice to the subject. 1
Popular Post Russ Vickers Posted January 30, 2020 Popular Post Posted January 30, 2020 It'll be another self promotional piece, full of half truths & worst, average attendance at the All Nighters 3000...load of sh*te...thing is, its national TV, it will all become NS history, we should be recording this stuff accurately, not basing it on a mans attempt to keep his pension flowing in....jeez god help us, the div forums on FB will lap this up.... 9

Chalky Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 The show is about the photos Francesco Mellina took at the last night, not sure which last night. It retraces some of those who are in the photos I believe. Russ probably does what he normally does and take all the credit. Waiting for it to appear on iplayer. 1

Veedub Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I went to all of the "last" nights, but don't really want to watch Russ's embelished views on it all.

Geeselad Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Russ seems free to exaderate at will. '10 thousand soulies a week'. '4 million'. Shoddy journalism. 1

I think it's a segment on that Inside Out programme, here it seems to be called "Inside Out West Midlands", I think they add a few local stories. This is from Richard Searling's Facebook.

Veedub Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Cheers for that list Chalky, I must have missed out there, I went to The Final oldies nighter, then the end of an Era nighter, then two more .I cant remember dates. Remember the place being even scruffier than usual at the last two I went to, cant remember if M's was open, probably not and the numbers were down. 1

Winsford Soul Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Got to say that it was basically old footage re-worked but not cringe worthy in anyway. One question . What was the venue at the end of the clip ? 2

Tomangoes Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 No doubt jogged a few memories for a lot of folks. So many years on, it gets less and less relevant in the big picture of northern soul. At least it got a plaque! Ed
Blackpoolsoul Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 I just watched the short version . What was the Motown demo that Russ had on the desk ?

Zed1 Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Was Dickie having a dig?, ie saying it's even now played at Weddings. Such a shame Russ has to always mention 'that' Record every time someone sticks a microphone in front of him. Station Rd was so much more than that. 3

Popular Post Baz Atkinson Posted February 10, 2020 Popular Post Posted February 10, 2020 Just watched it nothing new really good list Karl I was at the end of an era night but can remember feeling cheated when other nights followed ! The place should of had one last night end of and then we all should of moved on ! The thing that often saddens me the most when I look back is not only the romantic view of the dancers that was a very small part of it in my experience but also you rarely get a view on how much the music really meant to the punters that visited weekly ? For every 3 before eight there was a George Kirby Moses Dillard Billy Hambric etc but still Frank Wilson etc etc ! Such a good time for many had been sanitised mis represented and twisted to gringe worthy proportions for the benefit of the few and that is not what the place represented ! 8

It also made us the people who we are now for better or worse. And was the start of many friendships that are still going strong now and a love for this music that has never died 3
