Guest melandthensome Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Allright mate I reckon I have over a good half or more.Trouble was selling them over and over in the past. Considering the torch was only on a year........ The hardest will be the Mecca 45s as I stopped going from 1976 when the funky lollopers hit the Highland Room and worse of all when COLIN CURTIS left.
Modernsoulsucks Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Mel that Promised Land 45 was on Eric which was usually a re-issue label as Im sure you know and if you didn't you do now,so pay attention!! According to JM it's outta Philly. I always wondered whether it came out on some other label before Eric. Think it got issued on Stateside here but after it was played in the clubs. Bit of a coincidence really cos "Bok to Bach" is outta Philly too but I don't think I've ever seen a USA original of that. Im pretty sure when it was big the jocks all had it on UK MGM. So pretty interesting eh but nowt to lose sleep over. Im trying to collect all soul 45s with a reference to fish and chips but am stuck on Roy Handy so far. I may get Esko Affair "Salt and pepper" to add to it but it's kinda cheating as no mention of vinegar. ROD
Guest melandthensome Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Give us a break Rod jeeze......posted these from the top of my swede mate........ just keepin you on your toes matey............

Godzilla Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Im trying to collect all soul 45s with a reference to fish and chips but am stuck on Roy Handy so far. I may get Esko Affair "Salt and pepper" to add to it but it's kinda cheating as no mention of vinegar. ROD Are you including funk 45s Rod? If so there's always Funkadelic's "Fish, Chips and Sweat". Even includes a bit of compensation for lack of vinegar on Esko affair Also, if you fancy spreading the net a bit wider (ahem..) I think there's a reissue of Nashville Teens "Tobacco Road" with "Chips and Peas" on the flip. All that's missing now is a mug of tea and a Newbeats song for a fine fish supper. Godz

Pauldonnelly Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Mel. I'm pretty sure Ive got some other Torch stuff thats been replaced over the years with white promo's etc. Found a Charles Wright- Keep saying if you wannt it again FREE, and can I pay you to take Offenbach - Judy in disguise off me, possibly the worst thing Alan Day ever played at the Torch. Can you clear something up for me... Two records that I'm convinced I heard at the Torch, would have been late days (Dec 72-Jan 73) The Wooden Knickle -Nobody but you and Dalton James and Sutton-Run Baby...my ole muckers reckon both were early Casino??? Can you help me win a packet of spangles and 5 bustaids
