Paul McKay Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 (edited) What about the one by the Rice & Peas Orchestra - title escapes me at the mo! Paul Edited December 9, 2004 by sitc01
Mike Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 armarda orch efforts just sprang to mind as contendors
Paul R Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 But there was nothing wrong with Offenbach "Judy in Disguise"................Was there?? And didn't JOhn Freds Playboy Band get a reissue as well??
tone5446 Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 How about The Grasshopper by Doris Duke? A great soul singer reduced to singing tosh! There was something about the name "Contempo" that didn't inspire confidence, even though they put out a few good records. Check out Ted Taylor's I wanna be part of you. Its magic!
Guest Gaok Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 It was Rice & Beans orchestra. Nice album Us orch first released on Us label I think(not shure). Well, I dont know what is worst on Contempo, but Ultrafunk and Al Baba band are great
leev Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 the armada orchestra cochise, and the awful but aptly titled b side, sunset on the armada puleeeeeeze ;-)
Guest Paul Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 ...Any worse? This one is the very worst... NAPOLEON HATFIELD - Knees Up Mother Brown (Contempo CR 27)
Pete S Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 But there was nothing wrong with Offenbach "Judy in Disguise"................Was there?? And didn't JOhn Freds Playboy Band get a reissue as well?? Offenbach isn't on Contempo though, it's on Surrey International, but it's terrible. One great record on that label though is Billy Joe Young - Got you on my mind again.
Pete S Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Worst one on Contempo has to be the useless remake of I'm Spellbound by Tamiko Jones. Closely followed by Hung Up On Your Love by The Montclairs.
Codfromderby Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 seem to have a vague memory from years past of putting a contempo copy of exciters blowing up my mind on the decks at a party, and after about a minute realised that i didnt recognise what was coming out of the speakers, was it another take or was i very pissed ?
Dave Pinch Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 seem to have a vague memory from years past of putting a contempo copy of exciters blowing up my mind on the decks at a party, and after about a minute realised that i didnt recognise what was coming out of the speakers, was it another take or was i very pissed ? youre right cod. i used to have this. more like a pub rock version, truly awful. popped it int bin dave
Spacehopper Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 agree with pete the spellbound cover is the worst contempo 7 ive bought...although theres probably a couple of equally as bad tunes on the DDD album i cant remember been a while since ive played it
Guest FrostyJak Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Worst one on Contempo has to be the useless remake of I'm Spellbound by Tamiko Jones. YEP i'd say so too
