Lozzer66 Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 (edited) I have been looking through some old records ( had them for about 40 years ) and wondered if anyone could tell me how to check if this an original. It has 8009 etched in dead wax on too darn soulful side and 8008 plus a small pressed R in other side. Any guidance appreciated Edited November 12, 2019 by Lozzer66 Photos 1

Has not been booted to the best of my knowledge. The paper label is authentic. The print on the label would be very difficult to replicate. The paper label is stuck onto styrene; the original is not made of vinyl. I do not own a copy of this record, but it looks OK. If you check the copies sold on Popsike, I suspect one or two may confirm the matrix details. Hope this helps. 1
Lozzer66 Posted November 12, 2019 Author Posted November 12, 2019 Thanks for responding, much appreciated
Garethx Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 That's a definite original. The R is actually a B for Bestway, the factory which pressed this. Most of the Bestway demos have labels on the wrong sides of the record. Demos pressed at Monarch on the west coast are correctly labelled. 1
Dave Pinch Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 and that copy is reverse labels lookin at the scans 1
Lozzer66 Posted November 14, 2019 Author Posted November 14, 2019 (edited) Thanks for the information I have checked and labels are on correct sides with matching numbers to dead wax suggesting this was pressed at Bestway but a more unusual copy Edited November 14, 2019 by Lozzer66 1
davidwapples Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 I have never seen a bootleg let alone one of the demo 1
Gilly Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 My favourite voice of all time and there was pressings of it if I remember its a pink label and nothing made to look like the one shown here.
Lozzer66 Posted November 14, 2019 Author Posted November 14, 2019 Unsure whether you are saying this is or isn't original ???

Lozzer66 Posted November 14, 2019 Author Posted November 14, 2019 Ahh !!! yes I can see,the publisher, that makes perfect sense and I have just played the record and ......you are correct, reverse labels. I hadn't noticed as along with the rest of the collection, not played for many years. Thanks
Lozzer66 Posted November 14, 2019 Author Posted November 14, 2019 #Gilly I now understand your post, it became clear on reading Dave's comment, thanks
