Bob Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 They said that they can’t fit it into their calendar, but as Jazz said there are probably financial reasons behind their decision.
Planesoul Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 I was told more or less same thing, that it was down to numbers, soul survivors weekend about 3to 3,500 but the weekends like 70,s 80,s revival type weekend gets about 6,000 people so I guess about making money.Really disappointed its finished.
Billywhizz Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 told got down from 6,000 to 2,500 to 60 , money as allways sad x
Popular Post Chalky Posted November 11, 2019 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2019 Good news for the original Skeggy Weekender then 10
Monny1916 Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 It's never good news for the people who attended and enjoyed there weekend,, God hates a GLOATER

Monny1916 Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 God also hates Tossers who think only one event is permitted per town
Dim Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 Maybe there's more than one reason. Are the numbers down because the Weekenders have become expensive to attend? Butlin's on site amenities can be pricey. Are the numbers down because the formula has become old hat and tired? Or....are the numbers down because age (and infirmity) is finally taking it's toll on the punters? 1

Its about morals and showing some respect something Russ doesn’t do. Just like he put a nighter in in Wigan on the same night as an established nighter recently. 5
Monny1916 Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 I fully understand, I have attended the original on quite a few occasions and also tried butlins they are like chalk and cheese,( no pun intended) butlins isn't a soul weekender as such but more of a drinkfest with the top 500 thrown in 2

To be honest chalky the Butlins event would do little in affecting the original soul weekend, totally different types of weekend. Went once but not my cup of tea not really got the feel of a Newquay or whitby but many enjoyed it so each to their own. 1
Billywhizz Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 original soul weekend , is the best miles apart , not been give a go luv it , kokox
Tomangoes Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 Was it Butlins who decided to not carry on, or the promoter. It makes a difference. I went once. I'm not sure you could commercialise an event any more than this. If you forgot your uniform, no worries, you could buy one there. Certainly had its devotees, and yes very similar to Whitby. As much as events like this get berated for a multitude of reasons, the punters who attend regularly love it. For sure it's not ALL about the music for them. Ed 2 1
Professorturnups Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 The fact that 2 djs who couldn't stand each other in the 70s but were on the same line up at Butlins says it all Mark 1
Speedlimit Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 Think you will find it had something to do with the assaults on certain people over the last 2years
Chalky Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 Apparently a big scrap there this weekend and a death (fell mover or off the balcony), second one at Butlins this year apparently. This is what you get when you let the divs in and a corporate puts on an event with no knowledge of the scene. 2
