Derek Pearson Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Bit by bit I added more pebbles on my beach..... First came the Delwands "This time" which I'm still not sure about, never rated the messy flip though. Then Earles Inc came along "Just an Illusion" no it wasn't, it was a fine piece of groovyness. On the strength of that I picked up another of their releases "Close to you". Mmmm oh well and I soon traded it off. At a recent Burnley all-nighter I traded some records with that nice man Baz Atkinson and the Symphonic Four "Who are you fooling" was added to the fold. A bit of diggin revealed a couple of funk things by Wallace, Sid Sidney & the Belairs. Can anybody else add to the collective knowledge? Together we shall make the world a better place tra la la la...... derek
Weingarden Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 the sir sidney wallace, "green power," came out on zudan with two different flips: "the grinder" and a ballad whose name escapes me. annoyingly, most copies that say "the grinder" are mistakenly labeled and play that same ballad whose name escapes me. however, i have heard one copy on which "the grinder" is a funk instrumental. does anyone have a copy of THAT that i can buy?

Would "Green Power" be the same song as Little Richard on Reprise? (1972) I have fond memories of that particular side...

My GP has 'don't hurt me no more' on the flip which is a real nice mid tempo vocal.

Hi I sold a lot of my Zudan stuff, last year, I had Green Power / The Grinder on a light blue & a light green Zudan. I've still got at least one light blue, but unfortunately that plays the ballad. I seem to think I kept one of the light green copies as well, but If I have I'm not quite sure which track it plays. I'll have a look.
Weingarden Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 thanks! this "green power" is a different song entirely from the little richard. there is a female version of the little richard by katie briggs that's not bad...
jocko Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 (edited) Bit by bit I added more pebbles on my beach..... First came the Delwands "This time" which I'm still not sure about, never rated the messy flip though. derek Can't help too much I am afraid, other than to say I kept the Delwands but sold the Earles Inc (for peanuts!), maybe a mistake, just listened to the Delwands again and Time side is a lot better than I remember, the flip is better dancer but as you say messy as hell, although I did favour that side for some reason. I definitely think that is the type of sound that was of the 80's, couldn't see it being playable now! Cheers Jock Edited January 6, 2007 by jocko

Larsc Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Vocals on "Don't hurt me no more" by "Micheal Smith". There's probably thousands with that name, but could it be Michael Smith of Smith Connection (later on motown as Lovesmith) ?
