Mike Posted October 13, 2019 Posted October 13, 2019 This time around the version battle is one that as it's such a long running comparison you would have thought was done before, but it appears not! Recently suggested by Mick aka @Greedy Mick and also just featured in a recent forum topic , this version battle is all about... Look Into My Heart Little Willie Faulk - Look Into My Heart v Ree Flores - Look Into My Heart 1 Ree Flores - Look Into My Heart 2 Little Willie Faulk - Look Into My Heart If got a moment have a listen if needed, voice your choice by voting and if you can, expand your take/choice with a comment below Will run for a week...
Tomangoes Posted October 13, 2019 Posted October 13, 2019 Almost impossible to distinguish! Ree just has a slightly deeper voice and therefore a bit more soulful, but both tracks fantastic. When did these track first hit the scene? Ed
Guest Posted October 13, 2019 Posted October 13, 2019 I'd say the Ree Flores has a stronger vocal but it would be great to own either of these fine productions.
Widnes63 Posted October 13, 2019 Posted October 13, 2019 Definitely Ree for me , it just seems to have a bit more to it. Excuse my ignorance but why is Ree's version attributed to Ree Flores and Willies version to George Flores ? I could search for it but i'd like to see if any of our members knows the answer.
Westender Posted October 13, 2019 Posted October 13, 2019 Very little in it. The Faulk record has a slightly sharper sound but Ree is a better singer.
Greedy Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 When I suggested this to Mike I had been listening to some old cassettes and after listening to both it was almost a 50 50 vote but I just prefer Ree Flores although I would like to have either copy in my box

That is a great question and (I hope Mike doesn't mind) the thread Mike mentioned has some info (at the bottom) I found and I am still searching to try and find out 1

Perhaps now this poll It might get a little more attention, as it is clearly in a lot of peoples wants list and is over $1000 with plenty of days to go 1

Chris Turnbull Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 Not heard the Little Willie Faulk version before - superb as well, but Ree Flores edges it for me - has the X Factor vocal wise, probably not as good a singer technically but throws everything at it PS anyone else notice LWF version is a different mix with an additional 30 seconds or so two thirds through 1
Geoff Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 I voted for Ree Flores but as others have said there is little in it. Only heard of the Faulk version a few years ago when Dave Flynn played it the NYE allnighter near Great Portland Street station. If I was out wouldn't really be able to tell the difference. Fabulous dancer. Wasn't it a Stafford tune?
Guest Polyvelts Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 Rees vocal is so incredible I can hardly listen to the other one, definitely an all time top 10 record for me ! Truly brilliant - wish I had one !!!!
Ady Potts Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 I've had two copies of Little Willie Faulk. Interesting thing is one copy had the address on the label & the other one didn't. Only ever had one copy of Ree Flores. Having played both versions at Stewartby I have to admit general opinion has always been Ree Flores sounds better loud.
Guest Soul Hippy Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 Little Willie Faulk was the pride of my box in about 1984 and did play it out quite a bit, it came off Dave Raistrick around the same time Gary Rushbrooke was playing the Ree Flores. Heard it on one of Daves tapes and blew me head off, had to have it. £30 from memory, 1st copy, both brilliant but I am totally biased for obvious reasons, also heard LWF before Ree Flores which often has a bearing. But I agree with everything thats been said above.
Mike Posted October 20, 2019 Author Posted October 20, 2019 the last day or so to express your view if not done already! ------------------------------------------------------------------- always on the lookout for future poll suggestions some criteria - one version must be fairly well known, need to limit it to just 2 or 3 versions, looking for battles that be both interesting and enjoyable any ideas ? if have any, then get them to me via pm (not on this topic please ) to me via @Mike
Mike Posted October 22, 2019 Author Posted October 22, 2019 all over thanks for all who took part choosing and commenting the result below which sort of crashes the rarity over quality chestnut 1. which version do you prefer...? Ree Flores 69% Little Willie Faulk 27% over to the winner 3
