Continuing what's probably the biggest collection of original 60s soul memorabilia presented for set-sale in the UK, here are some more examples of this week's additions at A Nickel And A Nail of original soul related music industry memorabilia from the 60s to early 70s. Joe Simon (Sound Stage 7) - original 1966 performance contract (Alabama).

From the Walden Artists and Promotions / Paragon estate. Contract (AGVA reg. # 96188) for an appearance by Joe Simon at an undisclosed, presumed Alabama venue ("to be arranged" at time of booking). Performance date May 1966 (two shows). Package consists of original contract outlining fees, deposit, venue details and terms and conditions. The contract date coincides with Joe Simon's tenure at the Nashville label Sound Stage 7, within months either side of the releases of "Travelin' Man" and "The Girl's Alright With Me". https://a-nickel-and-a-nail.myshopify.com/collections/memorabilia/products/joe-simon-sound-stage-7-original-1966-performance-contract-alabama

 

Betty Wright - original 1973 performance contract (Statesboro, Georgia).

From the Waldon Artists and Promotions / Paragon Agency estate. An original performance booking contract (AGVA # BC 43443 ) for an appearance by Betty Wright at Georgia Southern College, Statesboro, Georgia. Performance date February 1973. Details of venue location, rehearsal and show times, fees, terms and conditions, and deposit requirements are referenced. The document derives from the middle of her period with Alston label, within a year or so of "Clean Up Woman" and "I'm Gettin' Tired Baby". Screamin' Jay Hawkins / John P. Cann Management business calling card (mid-late 1960s).

Calling card for Screamin' Jay Hawkins, placed at mid to late 1960s on the basis of his management history and the trans-atlantic movements of Screaming Jay Hawkins. Sourced from a dealer who initially acquired it from Neil Carter, Twisted Wheel DJ. Hawkins was one of the R&B acts to appear at the Twisted Wheel in the 1960s. In excellent condition, no tears or defacement. Tyrone Davis - original 1972 performance contract (Club Pacific, Ocala, Florida).

From the Waldon Artists and Promotions / Paragon Agency estate. An original performance booking contract (AGVA # 087) for an appearance by Tyrone Davis at Club Pacific, Ocala, Florida. Performance date March 1972. Details of show times, fees, terms and conditions, and deposit requirements are referenced. This contract is from Davis' recording period at Dakar.
