Billy Jones was a Texas born singer, who moved to Amsterdam in 1968 and joined Oscar Harris & The Twinkle Stars in the Netherlands. He started a solo career in 1970 and his best 45 release is on offer here. Two great 1974 Modern Soul dancers back to back with "I'll Keep Holding On" (the flip) being my favourite side of the two.

Really scarce german release of this 1967 Northern Soul dancer, that was played at the Wigan Casino. It's the first time I found this and surely this is the rarest format for a piece of Northern Soul history. Check soundfile 2 for the instrumental take, which has the edge for my liking.

Especially in the motorcity. Anyway, two great uptempo sides for you to consider and doesn't the picture sleeve look gorgeous?

"You're The Man" was supposed to be the first release from Gaye's next album to follow up "What's Going On", but the modest success of the 45 forced Gaye to shelve the project.
