Joesoap Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 This seems to be an under-rated / overlooked group of labels considering the talent involved. I seem to have picked up quite a few recently and loving their sound, right now. So any recommends? Here are a few from me: 2

Concrete Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 sounds so like 'Love Factory' played at The Casino, (bought my copy there) and sister Scherrie 1
Kegsy Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 (edited) Always rated this. Edited August 30, 2019 by Kegsy
Davenpete Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Two classics that are favs in the Carne Whitney household (specially the notorious NYPA!)... 2
Smudger Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 (edited) The first clip is the b side to DRIVEWAY but slowed down as the actual track is 2.54 and the second clip a different take lp version of same song I cannot find the original speed copy but it sounds like Melvin Davis on lead vocal at 2.54 speed. A great song and well worth a purchase at aound £10 Edited August 30, 2019 by Smudger 1
Jaco Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Barrino Brothers mentioned but not the storming “Trapped in a love” 1
The Yank Posted August 30, 2019 Posted August 30, 2019 Funky B side later re-worked into Mckinley Jackson and the Politicians's "Free Your MInd" -
Joesoap Posted September 1, 2019 Author Posted September 1, 2019 Always loved this. Instrumental is a killer. 1
Tobytyke Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 Talking of instrumentals I seem to remember the b side to Lee Charles "Sitting on a timebomb" had a great one on the flip

Concrete Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 Politicians featuring McKinley Jackson who went on to produced/arrange some of the iconic ABC albums of the 70s
Concrete Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 some great album tracks to, this was booted as a 45 credited to Chuck Barrino
Tobytyke Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 100 Proof aged in soul cut some great sides but the most soulful in my opinion has got to be "Since you been gone" superb vocal. Steve Mancha?
