Just wondering what tunes you've got in your box that you'd like to recommend to other Soul Sourcers.

You might be a DJ with that tasty unplayed, unknown, hardly played or semi-known stuck in the back of your box that you'd love to play... but haven't yet got around to it.

You might be a collector, sitting on a tune that you know, if it got into the right hands, could become massive in the next 12 months.

It could be an LP track that, for whatever reason, has never been given the recognition it deserves.

It might be a tasty 'B' side that, given the right exposure, might just become a monster!

No need to post sound clips. Just let us know what you've got that you think deserves a plug in the coming year!

I'll suggest a couple of my own later (duty calls right now).

So come on. Look at your box and let's have your top tip (or tips) for 2007.

Oh... and a Happy (and Soulful) New Year to all!

O C Smith - I'm glad I fell in love with you - Motown (Love Changes LP)

Probably been played to death over the years but I love it....and costs very little  A soulful 2007 to one and all. Jo

recently got a demo, top tune :D

I'll be giving Mary Hunt on Soul Mate, I wanna love and be loved a spin whenever I can, great record and practically unknown to ,ost who missed the 80's. Old Alice Clark cover up for Jimmy Wensiora and until I played it at last lifeline I've not heard it out since those days.

I've got high hopes for this in 2007, another overlooked tune from the 80's

Dunno, I know of one other copy, maybe others withthe likes of Butch etc. Won it from JM auction for £230. Bargain considering the only other copy I've seen for sale was Jimmy's some 20 years ago?

That was Ady wasn't it, Jimmy went on to Thorsby Market with some fairground rides or summat like. Dunno what he's doing now.

So that's half a dozen!

Must be loads more.

Doesn't need to be rare.

Just something that you'd like to share with us...

The recent LP/CD swap brought a stack of great tunes to the surface.

What else lies beneath?

All suggestions gratefully received (need to top up my wants list).

Hello,

"Try Them" by Al Williams is one of the best discoveries of recent years. DJs have no excuse because It's been out for quite a while on Grapevine's La Beat compilation album and also as a limited 7" single.

Don't wait until it's deleted!

Best regards,

Paul Mooney

I think Shaun Robbins' playlists for his show on Solar are fertile grounds for tips, he and his co-presenters have brought a load of great new sounds to myself over the last year or so. Yes some are reactivated from back in the day but some "new" discoveries as well. I love looking for them on GEMM/ebay while he is playing them and grabbing a bargain

PS The playlists are on E.M.S

PPS Happy new year to all

Onto the new stuff. We got an instrumental of Ron Hall & the Muthafunkaz & an accapella of Micheal Proctor & 2 decks & fiddled about with e'm & came up with this. Already tearing up the Modern dancefloors round South Yorkshire via our very own Julia Nicoll.

Just had a listen at the clip Mart, flippin eck.... sounds amazing!

As you say, I played it 2 or 3 times at Clifton Hall and Cleethorpes early 80's but it just didn't catch fire at the time... but as they say "so right for now"!

Would be good to see it getting plays in 2007 for sure.... and do you know what... I don't think this was ever actually issued in the UK. The one I've got and one other I've seen are DEMO's.

What's yours?

Excellent, picked this up a few months ago after hearing it on one of your Modernism CDs... can't remember if mine's a demo or not, and can't summon the energy to get to record boxes a few feet away to find out

it's already played out a bit here but The Bottle i think it's Brenda Holloway is a good cover and gets a good reception i expect next year it will get bigger.

After nearly 30 years of trying, maybe 'Brief Encounter - What about love - Capitol' might finally make it in 2007!!!!!!

Plus, now i've 'sort of' fixed the jump in the 45, gonna regroup and respin 'Rideout - Spend some time - Hotlicks'

So that's two from me for now..................

Cheers

Not forgetting the other recent one on Grapevine....Detroit Magnificents 'Is This A Woman's Way' that uses Youngblood Smith's 'You Can Split' backing track.......................

And the Chesterfields 'Think It Over' also on Grapevine, this one has the same backing as Yvonne Baker 'You Didn't Say A Word'.

2 absolutely wonderful previously unissued Northern Soul stormers!!! Get em' if you can find em' now.
