Sean Hampsey Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Just wondering what tunes you've got in your box that you'd like to recommend to other Soul Sourcers. You might be a DJ with that tasty unplayed, unknown, hardly played or semi-known stuck in the back of your box that you'd love to play... but haven't yet got around to it. You might be a collector, sitting on a tune that you know, if it got into the right hands, could become massive in the next 12 months. It could be an LP track that, for whatever reason, has never been given the recognition it deserves. It might be a tasty 'B' side that, given the right exposure, might just become a monster! No need to post sound clips. Just let us know what you've got that you think deserves a plug in the coming year! I'll suggest a couple of my own later (duty calls right now). So come on. Look at your box and let's have your top tip (or tips) for 2007. Oh... and a Happy (and Soulful) New Year to all! Sean Hampsey
shute Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 How about the new Al Williams 45 that had been released on Grapevine...not heard that played out yet...stormer of a tune.... will be a floor filler soon I'm sure

Chalky Posted December 31, 2006 Posted December 31, 2006 Great Tune Early Days Of Stafford Rarity ? Todays Value ? Dunno, I know of one other copy, maybe others withthe likes of Butch etc. Won it from JM auction for £230. Bargain considering the only other copy I've seen for sale was Jimmy's some 20 years ago?

Sean Hampsey Posted January 1, 2007 Author Posted January 1, 2007 So that's half a dozen! Must be loads more. Doesn't need to be rare. Just something that you'd like to share with us... The recent LP/CD swap brought a stack of great tunes to the surface. What else lies beneath? All suggestions gratefully received (need to top up my wants list).
Guest Paul Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 How about the new Al Williams 45 that had been released on Grapevine...not heard that played out yet...stormer of a tune.... will be a floor filler soon I'm sure Hello, "Try Them" by Al Williams is one of the best discoveries of recent years. DJs have no excuse because It's been out for quite a while on Grapevine's La Beat compilation album and also as a limited 7" single. Don't wait until it's deleted! Best regards, Paul Mooney

Blake H Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 I think Shaun Robbins' playlists for his show on Solar are fertile grounds for tips, he and his co-presenters have brought a load of great new sounds to myself over the last year or so. Yes some are reactivated from back in the day but some "new" discoveries as well. I love looking for them on GEMM/ebay while he is playing them and grabbing a bargain BH PS The playlists are on E.M.S PPS Happy new year to all
Cunnie Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 (edited) Great thread Sean Well here's my tips for the next year. From a 60s point of view i'd love to hear this a bit more often in the next 12 months. Youre Taking Too Long - the boss man -gamble 11697 refosoul ................................................................. On the crossover scene this looks set to be a monster thanks to spins from Shaun Robbins & Brett Franklin. Lets Change The Subject - satisfaction unlimited - 11391 refosoul .................................................................. A late 70s/early 80s dancer that's well due a reactivation is your old Clifton Hall spin Sean, remember this mate? Do Ya Got What It Takes - jackie moore -cbs 13042 refosoul .................................................................. Onto the new stuff. We got an instrumental of Ron Hall & the Muthafunkaz & an accapella of Micheal Proctor & 2 decks & fiddled about with e'm & came up with this. Already tearing up the Modern dancefloors round South Yorkshire via our very own Julia Nicoll. Click on my signature below to have a listen. Mart... Edited January 1, 2007 by CUNNIE
