CODY BLACK: Because You First Love  me / The Night A Star Was Born * GROOVE CITY, M-, 250.- Euro
Super clean copy of this excellent Detroit double header, a record, that rarely comes to market. Midtempo magic topped with the gritty voice of Cincinnati born Cody Black, who moved to Detroit as a youngster and recorded some of the motor city's most remarkable sides.

soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/codyblackthenightastar.mp3

THE GATURS: Gator Bait / Wasted * GATUR, M-, 200.- Euro, on hold
In my book, the best funk record ever recorded; New Orleans never sounded better. A slick bassline and some percussion set the tone for Willie Tee's jazzy keyboard licks and the result is simply mindblowing.
soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/gatursgaturbai.mp3
soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/gaturswaste.mp3

SEBASTIAN WILLIAMS: Get Your Point Over * OVIDE, M-, 150.- Euro
Clean copy of this indemand Houston/Texas late 60's dancer.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/sebastianwilliamsgetyour.mp3

JESSE JAMES: If You Want A Love Affair * 20th CENTURY, M-, 100.- Euro
1975 70's soul from the top shelf and a classic on the Modern Soul floors across the globe. Minty copy, that comes with it's original company sleeve.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/jessejamesifyouwant.mp3

EDDIE BO: Fence Of Love * SEVEN B, M-, mild ringwear on lbl, 75.- Euro
Another mindblowing New Orleans production, by piano player Edwin Bocage aka Eddie Bo, who recorded a string of records in the Big Easy, that defined the sound of the city. This is a gritty 60's dancer, that never really achieved the recognition it deserves.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/eddiebofence.mp3

LEE McDONALD: Gotta Get Home / Show Me * DEBBIE, M-, 75.- Euro
Outstanding Modern Soul stepper from 1979. Top side is on the rare LP by Lee McDonald a s well, but the 7" provides a different take compared to the LP. Flip it over for a beautiful slow jam.
soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/leemcdonaldgottaget.mp3
soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/leemcdonaldshow.mp3

LEE MOSES: Time And Place / I Can't Take No Chances * FRONT PAGE, VG+, 60.- Euro, on hold
One side on this immense double sider is funky soul at it's very very best, flip it over for facemelting crossover soul. Every home should own a copy.
soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/leemosestimeandpl.mp3

soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/leemosesicanttakenoc.mp3

BOBBY BLAND: Shoes * DUKE, VG++ to M-, 50.- Euro, sold
No introduction needed…
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/bobbyblandshs.mp3

WINFIELD PARKER: I Wanna Be With You * P&L, M-, 50.- Euro
Mint copy of this classy 70's dancer, that never fails to get the dancers up.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/winfieldparkeriwannnabe.mp3

SMOKEY BROOKS: Spin-It Jig / Eternal * NOW, M-, 50.- Euro
Two excellent, but contrasting sides. "Spin-It Jig" is a funky dancefloor bomb, that simply sounds amazing played out loud while "Eternal" is a gorgeous ballad, that sweet and deep collectors adore for good reason. "Eternal" has a kind of spot in the run-out-grooves, that causes mild pops, but just shortly after the song faded out, so it doesn't affect the sound.
soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/smokeybrooksspinitjig.mp3
soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/smokeybrookseternal.mp3

GENE CHANDLER: There Was A Time * BRUNSWICK, strong VG, drill hole in lbl, 50.- Euro
The daddy of funky edged soul. A record, that seperates the men from the mice. Light marks only and priced accordingly I believe.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/genechandlertherewas.mp3

THE BAMBOOS: Tighten Up * KAY-DEE, M-, 50.- Euro, on hold
The best version of Archie Bell's classic by a country mile. A copy sold for 75 english pounds on a well known dealers site lately, so this should be a bargain for someone.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/bamboostightenup.mp3

LEE DORSEY: Four Corners * AMY, M-, 50.- Euro
Banging New Orleans funk with breaks and everything to set a dancefloor on fire.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/leedorseyfourcorners.mp3

ELLA FITZGERALD: Ringo Beat * VERVE, made in Gemany, M-, 50.- Euro, on hold
Sizzling hot R&B / Mod dancer arranged by Jazz guitarist Barney Kessel.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/ellafitzgeraldringobeat.mp3

LEE WILLIAMS & THE SYMBOLS: I'll Be Gone / I Love You More * CARNIVAL promo, M-, 50.- Euro, sold
If the seven 45s Lee Williams recorded for Carnival would have been put together for an LP, it would have been a stone cold classic. Unfortunately you have to go with the 45s. These guys where masters in creating sweet harmony cuts and they knew how to write songs. Two great sides back to back on a shiny clean promo. Tasty or what?
soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/leewilliamsillbegone.mp3
soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/leewilliamsiloveyoumore.mp3

HENRY TURNER'S CRYSTAL BAND: Giving My Love Up To You / Music * LOTUS LAND, M-, 40.- Euro, sold
This hasn't seen the light of day since 2007 when Milwaukee's chief digger and record store owner Andy Noble unearthed the tapes of Henry Turner's Crystal Band. Two great 70's sides back to back and only available on this strictly limited and long sold out 45.
soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/crystalbandgivingmylove.mp3
soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/crystalbandmusic.mp3

MICKEY & THE SOUL GENERATION: Football / Joint Session * MAXWELL, promo, wol on label flipside, VG+, 40.- Euro
Two great Texas funk instrumentals on a way rarer promo copy.

soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/mickeyandthejointsession.mp3

THE TOPICS: Try A Little Love / All Good Things Must End * HEAVY DUTY, M-, 35.- Euro
Interesting credits on this superb 70's dancer. Published by Fania in New York for Harvey Averne's production team, but surely no latin vibes on this two sided gem. A great and underrated dancer and a mighty fine group harmony side by the mighty Topics, who recorded some of the most collectable 45s during the 60's and 70's. A proper soul record!
soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/topicstryalittle.mp3
soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/topicsallgoodthings.mp3

MIGHTY GENTS: Mighty Gents / Please Don't Take Your Lovin' From Me * MIGHTY GENTS RECORDS, VG++, mild warp, not affecting play, 35.- Euro, on hold
Slick 1978 midtempo groove from the desk of Ron Dante. Even if you don't appreciate the great music, the label design is worth the money alone!
soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/mightygentsmiighty.mp3
soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/timmcqueenpleasedont.mp3

SAM DEES: So Tied Up / Signed Miss Heroin * ATLANTIC promo, M-, 30.- Euro
A desert island disc for many with two sides to get on your knees for. "So Tied Up" co-written by Bill Brandon, is a deep slice of hurting slow soul, flip it over for a drug-related song, that makes you wonder, why Sam Dees never reached superstar status. Nobody could go deeper into the dark sides of the human nature then Mr. Dees.
soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/samdeessotiedup.mp3
soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/samdeessigned.mp3

JOHN FOX: It's Up To You / Election Day, I'm Goin' Fishin' * CAPITOL, M-, slight warp not affecting play, 30.- Euro
Overlooked and totally great midtempo Modern Soul from 1977 with a slick instrumental flipside with a superb synth bassline.
soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/johnfoxitsuptoyou.mp3
soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/johnfoxelectionday.mp3

JOBELL & THE ORCHESTRA DESALSA: Never Gonna Let You Go * JAN, M-, 30.- Euro
A perfect blend of latin and disco on this westcoast masterpiece from 1976.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/jobellnevergonnna.mp3

GLORIA TAYLOR: Grounded * SILVER FOX; promo, VG++, some label flaking, 30.- Euro, on hold
Same song as Belita Woods on Moira and what a banging funky dancefloor bomb this is. In your face funky sister soul, action packed and better then 99% of all big ticket records theses days.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/glaoriataylorgrounded.mp3

MATT WILKINS: Don't Tell Me Nothing (About my Baby) / Getting What You Need * B&R, M-, 30.- Euro, on hold
Hard hitting late 60's Memphis funk for the dancefloor backed up by a truly sensational, Sam-Cooke-styled deep soul goodie. The flipside is a firm favourite in my house.
soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/mattwilkinsdonttellme.mp3
soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/mattwilkinsgetting.mp3

JOHNNY WILLIAMS: You've Got It * KENT, strong VG, near VG+, plays great, 25.- Euro
Punchy 1964 soul dancer, that sounds way ahead of it's time.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/johnnywilliamsyouvegot.mp3

LIFESTYLE: Katrina * MCA promo, sticker on lbl, M-, 25.- Euro
1977 uptempo dancer, that's ripe for a revival.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/lifestylekathrina.mp3

BELITA WOODS: I Just Love You * EPIC promo, wol, M-, 25.- Euro, sold
A Detroit soul sister, that just recorded three 45s and two 12" in her career. Her two 45s for Moira are rated highly by those in the know. For some reason her later outing for Epic records never recieved wider recognition. You ignore a jewel here; a midtempo groove produced to perfection by Barrett Strong topped by Mrs. Woods voice - a blistering, raw and soulful experience. So much talent for a discography that short.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/belitawoodsijustlove.mp3

EDDIE BO: Hook And Sling * SCRAM, VG++ to M-, wol, 25.- Euro
The daddy of a ll New Orleans break beat records. No, it doesn't get any funkier then this baby here. Hook it baby....
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/eddiebojhookand.mp3

NOTATIONS: Superpeople * GEMIGO, M-, 25.- Euro, on hold
Funky soul, that sounds as fresh 45 years later as it sounded back then.

SILK STORM: Baby Don't Say No / Love Will Make You Feel Better * PAWN, VG++, 25.- Euro, on hold
Memphis group soul 70's dancer recorded in Willie Mitchell's HI studio. Flip it over for a majestic sweet soul cut.
soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/silkstormbabydont.mp3
soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/silkstormlovewill.mp3

VILLAGE CALLERS: Hector * RAMPART, strong VG, near VG+, 25.- Euro
California chicano funk of the highest order and a classic in it's own right. Nice playing copy with light surface marks.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/villagecallershector.mp3

GREAT EXPECTATIONS: Welcome To The World * PHOENIX, M-, 25.- Euro, on hold
Stone Mint first issue, before Phil-L.A.-Of-Soul took over for national distribution. Ghetto Soul at it's best!
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/greatexpectationswelcom.mp3

THE RELATIVES: Leave Something Worth While * EVER-SOUL, M-, 20.- Euro
This was released in 2014 through Daptone records in New York and is one of the finest crossover gospel soul tunes ever recorded. It reminds me of 2001 Black Essence "Change My Life". I usually hdisklike gospel, but all the braindamaging "lord"- and "jesus"-lyrics are missing on this. Amen to that!
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/relativesleavesomethin.mp3

MIKE JEMISON: I Want Some Satisfaction * GENEVA, M-, 20.- Euro
Simply awesome Detroit 70's dancer in immaculate condition. Just a great record and something, that would be 4 figures, if it would be rare.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/mikejemisonsatisfaction.mp3

BOBBY CUTCHINS: Leaving * LASSO, M-, 20.- Euro, on hold
Bobby Cutchin's other one and as good as "We Did It Again". 1977 Philly Soul from the top shelf.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/bobbycutchinsleaving.mp3

MASTERS OF SOUL Sad Face * OVIDE, M-, 20.- Euro, sold
Some say, that collectin soulmusic is a rich men's game these days. Really? This mindblowing good cheapo proves them wrong: a shuffling mid- to uptempo group harmony masterpiece with a guitar break that gives George Benson a run for his money.
soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/mastersofsoulsadfac.mp3
soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/mastersofsoulordblesss.mp3

A classic in great condition. No further sales talk needed.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/rayycharlesdontneed.mp3

Cheap and cheerful chicago funky sister soul with an attitude.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/bettyescottgoodfeel.mp3

THE SHERRONS: No Matter What You Do To Me * DCP, promo, M-, 20.- Euro

soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/sherronsnomatterwhat.mp3

MICKEY AND THE SOUL GENERATION: Iron Leg / Chocolate * MAXWELL, VG to VG-, plays well above grade , 25.- Euro
Used but not abused copy of this hard hitting Texas funk double sider. Lots of light marks on the vinyl, typical for records stored without a sleeve, but no deep scratches. I hate the term, but this would be a nice DJ copy.
soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/mickeyandtheironleg.mp3
soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/mickeyandthechoclate.mp3

soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/roscoerobinsonthatsenough.mp3

JACKIE MOORE: Bothe Ends Against The Middle * ATLANTIC, promo, M-, 15.- Euro
Forgotten Philly 70's dancer on a shiny clean Atlantic promo. Comes complete with it's distribution sleeve.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/jackiemoorebothends.mp3

TOTAL ECLIPSE: You Took Your Heart (That Was Torn To Pieces) * RIGHT-ON, M-, 15.- Euro
J.R. Bailey penned Northern Soul, highly recomended!
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/totaleclipsehearttornto.mp3

BOBBY WOMACK: You're Welcome, Stop On By * UNITED ARTISTS, made in Germany, M-, 15.- Euro
Thick vinyl copy (unlike the brittle US styrene copies) of this 70's dancer. A record, that ticks all the boxes and is regarded as a masterpiece among Modern Soul collectors.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/bobbywomackwelcomestopon.mp3

soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/trueimagescret.mp3

soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/loucourtneywhatdoyou.mp3

THE CORNER BOYS: Gang War (Don't Make Sense) * NEPTUNE, M-, drill hole in lbl, 10.- Euro
No way to spend 10.- Euro better then on this funky belter, that got spins from some DJs with taste lately. Gritty funky soul for the dancefloor and cheap as a pint and a slice of Pizza.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/cornerboysgangwar.mp3

SAM DEES: Claim Jumping * CLINTONE, promo, M-, 10.- Euro
Excellent southern soul dancer from 1972 by the mighty Sam Dees.
soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/samdeesclaimjump.mp3

COMPLAMENTS: Falling In Love * DAKAR, M-, 10.- Euro, on hold
If you are one of the followers of the current hype on sweet harmony records, this should be in your collection, before you spend big on rarities. Good as it gets group soul ballad from the windy city.
