Andybellwood Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 price and availability please many thanks
Crumb Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 It's £80 in Tim Brown's book but that's far too low, a boot went for £67 on ebay a while ago. Cheers Crumb
Chalky Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 It's at least £150 now but everytime one comes up for sale it goes pretty quick. It was selling for £150 over year ago so you can probably expect to pay more these days so.

Chalky Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Remind me how you tell a boot from an original ? Easiest way is Harthon is in a straight line on the boot with poor quality print. The original Harthon is curved and print quality is far better.
sepia Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 is this the record on harthorn? if it is the harthorn label .the original is written in the same style as LONSDALE on sports shirts(letters start of large then go small then large again). the boot has harthorn written in same size letters all along. also the print on boot looks smudgie.
sepia Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 awell, got the lonsdale bit wrong.should of just said curved, lol

Simon T Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 original...... boot.... Mine seems to have a very fient matrix stamp, but it so shallow I can't tell if it really is one, anyone confirm?
Chalky Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Mine seems to have a very fient matrix stamp, but it so shallow I can't tell if it really is one, anyone confirm? I've seen this feint stamp before, often only on one side. Never really bothered looking as boot is pretty obvious.
Guest Simon Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 I've seen this feint stamp before, often only on one side. Never really bothered looking as boot is pretty obvious. I remember a conversation about this a couple of years ago on a forum, there was a debate over wether the issue should have a stamp, think it got to a bit of a stalemate. Mine has got some faint writing in the run out groove but i bought it from a very respected dealer about 5 years ago before the recent popularity of the tune so that's enough for me to show that it's proper. Bought mine for £50 & must admit i'd be temppted by £150 but then i'd probably only spend the money as quickly as i got it so might as well just keep the tune & a mighty fine double-sider it is at that. I've also had the boot which also has great sound quality, very good repro. Simon
Guest Simon Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Why the eyes Chalky, have i offended you or sommat? Just trying to help someone out with some info on a track they are after, if i remember you were part of the original conversation i was referring to. Simon
Mak Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 I have copy of both the original and the boot , was it booted over here or in the USA . I also have copy of THE VOLCANOS - IT'S GOTTA BE A FALSE ALARM unfortunately it's a boot
Pete S Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 If I had one and someone offered me £150 for it I'd sell it to them in about 2 seconds...it's worth half that, despite the lecture I'm now about to get from Chalky or John Manship

Guest Simon Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 I also have copy of THE VOLCANOS - IT'S GOTTA BE A FALSE ALARM unfortunately it's a boot Never knew this was booted? I hope i don't offend anyone if i say that i have a copy of this on Red Harthon, Harthon down the right hand side with a Virtue stamp in the dead wax. Brilliant tune, what does the boot look like or is mine a boot? Simon
Guest Simon Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 no far from it Simon. was going to say something but changed me mind so put a smiley there instead Oops sorry Chalky, i must be a bit touchy today! Please ignore my sarcasm below, it's back to that old chestnut, things being misconstrued in the written word. I thought maybe you thought i always had an answer to everything, which i sometimes think i have I'll keep posting away minus the paranoia! Simon

Pete S Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 I'm not going to lecture you Pete. Can you put me down for the next copy you get Don't think I've seen one on your list for some time either? The reason you haven't seen one on my list for some time is because I won't pay the ridiculous prices people started to ask about 18 months ago. I've never sold this for more than 50 quid. I would happily sell you it for 75 if I'd got it. Those copies with the straight line logo are legit reissues from soul bowl I think.
Guest Simon Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 While we're talking Harthon 'I can't break the habit', how good is this, only released on a Harthon boot as far as i'm aware, the boot has great sound quality though, this boot requires dispensation if you ask me, should be spun! Simon

Simon T Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 (edited) What's the story with that Volcanoes track "Honey"? "Fabricated"? Volcanoes - I'm running for vice president! Edited December 29, 2006 by Simon T
Guest Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 Just checked my history on this title. I've had two copies in the last 6 years sold the last one in 2003 for £150 sold the same week we listed it. Not seen one since.. would suggest, a little rarer than collectors give it credit for, and both sides are awesome.
