Grading: Goldmine grading system - M- / VG++/ VG+ / VG / VG- etc. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx PEACE AND LOVE: WE Got The Power * RAFF, VG-, wol, 200.- Euro Latin Soul banger from Mexico: a driving beat, a great percussion breakdown, sharp horn riffs and desperate vocals. This copy has numerous light scratches and plays with a little surface noise, but nothing to bad. Check the soundbyte. soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/peaceandlovewegotthe.mp3 ART FREEMAN: Slippin' Around With You * FAME, promo, VG+, 150.- Euro A Northern Soul classic written by Spooner Oldham and Dan Penn. Totally catchy and driving 60's soul dancer, that never fails to get the dancers up. This copy has mild surface blemishes and plays very nice with occasional mild pops. Priced accordingly I believe. soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/artfreemanslipping.mp3 GINO DENTIE: Sunny Side Of Life * VALUNTINO, VG+, 150.- Euro Great and rare 70's soul stepper, that never pops up on 7", only one copy ever went through ebay! soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/ginodentiesunnyside.mp3 MILL EVANS: When I'm Ready * TOU-SEA, promo, M-, 100.- Euro Brilliant atmospheric Chicago dancer on a New Orleans label in dream like condition. An excellent rhythm track, produced by Bill Sheppard with nice bongos (which often take a record from great to fuc*ing brilliant) and vocals to die for. soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/millevanswhenim.mp3 MAXIMA: Together Again * GWS, VG+, 100.- Euro Super rare funky edged Northern dancer out of Miami / Florida. soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/maximatogetheragain.mp3 THE SOUL SEARCHERS: Save A Soul In Every Town * NASHBORO, M-, 100.- Euro Funky gospel banger, that fills floors across the globe in immaculate condition. soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/soulsearcherssaveasoul.mp3 GHETTO CHILDREN: Rat-A-Tat-Tat / I Just Gotta Find Somebody To Love Me * COLUMBIA, M-, wol, 75.- Euro Like with so many majorlabel 70's releases, the winning side can only be found on the issues. The promo copies with the Mono/Stereo sides of the sweet groupsoul winner "I Just Gotta..." are fairlly easy to pick up, but the issues have the DJ-side on it. Here we have a straight and tricky 70's groove with falsetto lead vocals and a pretty insane drum break. This should be gold in the hands of the right DJ. soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/ghettochildrenratatat.mp3 soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/ghettochildrenijustgotafind.mp3 LEE McDONALD: Gotta Get Home / Show Me * DEBBIE, M-, 75.- Euro Outstanding Modern Soul stepper from 1979. Top side is on the rare LP by Lee McDonald a s well, but the 7" provides a different compared to the LP-take. Flip it over for a beautiful slow jam. soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/leemcdonaldgottaget.mp3 soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/leemcdonaldshow.mp3 PATTI JO: Ain't No Love Lost / Stay Away From Me * SCEPTER, VG, 60.- Euro Two totally great sides written and produced by Curtis Mayfield. Rare and great record from 1959. soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/varettadillardscorched.mp3 soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/varettadillardgoodgravy.mp3 THE MESSENGERS: Don'tcha Quit School / (Darling) This Is How I Feel * NEWGET, strong VG+, 50.- Euro Joshie Jo Armstead penned uptempo R&B, that rarely comes to market. Flip it over for a doo-woppish sweet soul flip. soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/messengersdontchaquit.mp3 soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/messengersdarlingthis.mp3 HAYES & DHANIELS: Spend A Perfect Day * PHONOGRAPH, VG++, 50.- Euro Chicago Modern Soul rarity with a nice mellow 2 step appeal and two great femme/male vocalists. Not easy to find, but they should have made a 12" out of this, soundquality is not the best due to the length of the song (almost 5 minutes) and it's pressed very narrow. The playing surface looks super clean, but it plays with light crackles in parts. soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/hayesdhanielsspendaperfe.mp3 WALES WALLACE: Somebody I Know * BRC, M-, 40.- Euro, on hold Excellent chicago crossover soul dancer written and produced by Eugene Record. soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/waleswallacesomebody.mp3 TOMMY BRYANT: I Wanna Come Home To You Baby * T-NECK, promo, M-, 40.- Euro Totally underrated Northern Soul dancer on the Isley Brother's owned label. Uptempo, soulful and produced to perfections by the Isleys. I've never seen an issue of this and I doubt, that they exist. Anyway, great uptempo 60's soul for the dancefloor. soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/tommybryantiwannacome.mp3 COKE ESCOVEDO: I Wouldn't Change A Thing * UNIQUE, M-, 40.- Euro Mint copy of this long out of print reissue of this amazing funky 70's soul banger. This is an official reissue done some 10 years ago in germany and it's the only way to get this gem on 45. soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/cokeescovedoiwouldnt.mp3 SYL JOHNSON: One Way Ticket To Nowhere / Kiss By Kiss * TWINIGHT, promo, M-, 35.- Euro Way rarer promo copy of this essential Chicago double sider. soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/syljohnsononewayticketto.mp3 soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/syljohnsonkissbykiss.mp3 SYL JOHNSON: Don't Give It Away / Going To The Shack * TWINIGHT, promo, wol, M-, 25.- Euro Promo copy of this essential funky soul double header with "Going To The Shack" being a personal favourtite. Way harder to find then most of Syl's other releases on the label and musically totally from the top shelf. soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/syljohnsondontgiveit.mp3 soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/syljohnsongoingto.mp3 RAW SPITT: That Ain't My Wife (That I See) / Songs To Sing * UNITED ARTISTS, promo, VG++, 50.- Euro Legendary deep soul double header produced by Jerry Williams aka Swamp Dogg. The vocals are by Charles Whitehead and no matter what side you put the needle on, you get the deepest most emotional soulmusic ever made. This copy has a spot on the vinyl, that seems to be a pressing flaw, it doesn't sound, so you shouldn't be to worried about it. But you hear very light surface noise on the quite intro. Check the soundfiles, before ordering! soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/rawspitsongstosi.mp3 soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/rawspitthataintm.mp3 GEORGE WILSON: Here Stands A Man Who Needs You * BLACK CIRCLE, VG+, 40.- Euro Simply one of the most soulful records of all time. The way George Wilson falls into his spine tingling falsetto is truly out of this world. soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/georgewilsonherestan.mp3 JOEY GILMORE: Somebody Done Took My Baby And Gone / Do It To Me One More Time * PHIL-LA-OF SOUL, promo, VG, 30.- Euro Superb slice of crossover soul from the pen of Miami's Frank Williams of "It's Got To Be A Man"- and "It's All Over"-Fame. Flip it over for a more uptempo side soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/joeygilmoresomebody.mp3 soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/joeygilmoredoittome.mp3 MARIE GLADNESS: Cops And Robbers * BRAND-X, VG/VG-, 40.- Euro Nice R&B tingled popcorn soul on the rarer first label before Abner took over for national distribution. Flipside has some feelable marks and plays with pops. soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/mariegladnesscopsand.mp3 CHICK CARLTON: Preach Love / You Can't Keep A Woman From A Man * DEMO TEST PRESS, VG+, 40.- Euro The Atco issued 45 from 1970 of this record has the title "Black On White, Brown On Tan" for "You Can't Keep A Woman From A Man". This does not appear to be a test pressing of the Atco release as the catalogue numbers are different. My beleive is, that this a private press. Both songs sound like the Atco released recordings allthough the timing seems to be slightly different. Pretty scarce record and musically great. soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/chickcarltonpreachlove.mp3 soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/chickcarltonyoucantkeep.mp3 MARIO ALLISON Y SUS ESTRELLAS: Caliente / San Juan * DINSA; VG, wol, 35.- Euro Rare Boogaloo 45, that got just released in Argentina and Peru. This is the issue copy from Peru and if you like your stuff with handclaps, a strong beat and some latin vibes, this is for you. Flipside is kind of easy latin, but nice in it's own way... check the sound! soundfile 1: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/marioallisoncal.mp3 soundfile 2: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/marioallisonsnjuan.mp3 JERRY HILTON & THE GENTLE RAIN: Complete Opposites * SONIC, M-, mild label wear, 40.- Euro Excelent and underrated crossover groupsoul goodie out of Iowa. Dixon. Previously he was member of the group Danderliers from Chicago. Bernard Dixon was co-composer and producer of this mighty fine 70's dancer. It also had a release on Communication records (better known for the rare Billy Byrd release), not sure if Communication or Ohio's AMG was first, but the AMG release seems to be way rarer. soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/dixonifthisislove.mp3 JIMETTE & CO.: Me And My Lady * KADER, VG++, 40.- Euro Semi know funky disco Soul from 1977. soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/jimettemeandmylady.mp3 TONY VITALE: Get Up & Get Down * TON-MAR, minor wol on label flipside, M-, 40.- Euro Semi know Modern Soul. soundfile: https://hamburgcitysoul.com/upload/tonyvitalegetup.mp3 DEREK DAMIAN: Watcha Wanna Do * IZIPHO SOUL, M-, 40.- Euro Recorded in 2011, released 2018 on a limited run of 300 copies and sold out on the day of release.
