Soulsmith Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 (edited) Just been handed Winter 06 copy of n.soul mag. Lead article is called 'Curse of the chat room' by Jan Crowell. Its basically an out and out rant against northern soul internet chat rooms. Its a hatchet job! There is a pop at chat room site operators, moderators and contributors. Made up scenarios & made up quotes abound from Jan. What a terrible journalist she must be. Actually the made up quotes are quite funny, but you have to take note that she chose to rely on her own made up quotes that real ones. n.soul is published by Kev Roberts who was a member of this site until recently, when he resigned. Personally I think he was well treated and probably enjoyed his time whilst here, but something must have upset him......... Col. Edited December 27, 2006 by Soulsmith

Soulsmith Posted December 27, 2006 Author Posted December 27, 2006 Dunno why you buy that soulless cr*p any way Oi cloth-ears, what part of "Just been handed Winter 06 copy of n.soul mag" didn't you understand
Soulsmith Posted December 27, 2006 Author Posted December 27, 2006 What NS chat room?? Ive never been able to find one Sorry to be the one to break it to you, you're in it. Yes, I know it feels more like a pantomine.
Dave Moore Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 You could push the boat out and buy Blues and soul.......all the glossy mags are pants Yeah, thanks for that Baz. I'm sure all the contributors who regularly slave over their keyboards and drag stuff from their record boxes, or track down folks to interview, or try and provide a vehicle for artists who are struggling against the tide of MTV PR, appreciate the professional critique from someone so positive. That's the second time on this forum someone has 'branded" all glossy mags as crap/pants. Just out of interest, do you actually READ any of them? Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com
Soulsmith Posted December 27, 2006 Author Posted December 27, 2006 Any chance of a scan of the offending artical? Don't think it would scan too well. Type is white out of grey. Its all a bit sublime, references to site members being drama queens, failed record dealers & bullied at school.
Guest Baz Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Oi cloth-ears, what part of "Just been handed Winter 06 copy of n.soul mag" didn't you understand i take that back then.............and what do you mean cloth ears mr smith Yeah, thanks for that Baz. Regards, Dave www.theresthatbeat.com www.hitsvillesoulclub.com i ment the bigger UK based ones N.soul and blues and soul, last time i read n.soul it was a bit look how big my testicals are, with very little soul content, manifesto is OK has quite a few articals in of interest, mainly look at it to see what mug shots i can spot in the center pages, i take it from your post that theresthatbeat is a glossy mag and you see it as a 'dig' at that, trust me it wasn't, i've not sorted out to get one yet but i will be, and from what i've read it looks like a good read, so dont get paranoid
Soul-slider Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Yeah, thanks for that Baz.
