Tomangoes Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Just dismantled some wardrobes and found some 100 club anniversary 45s I'd forgot I had, and certainly never played... Also pulled out a signed Rubin Molina guide to the low rider scene I've not opened since 2004 when I got it... On the other hand I can't find my Oscar Perry I got what you need...and remembered I loaned it out many years ago and looks like never to be returned! Ed 2
Mal C Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 (edited) Not so much a 45, but Lp of a 45... I was playing Garland Greens RCA Lp the other day and came across his version of "Let me be your Pacifier" written by Willard Burton, wonder if Willard wrote this for him / for that LP, then recorded his version which came out on Money as a 45... great song Edited February 28, 2019 by Mal C

Joesoap Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 I found Daybreak and a few others in my shed! Thought that was long gone.
Popular Post Davebanks Posted March 1, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 1, 2019 Got rid of my 45s some years ago, along with the means to play them. Kept some old battered pop stuff; Beatles Stones etc lent them to my grandson who had acquired a vintage Dansette he was fascinated with. He's just given me some records back and in amongst the pop stuff was a copy of The Festivals Music, not rare, but a great track nevertheless. It is the only soul 45 I have got left. And I remember why it was kept now, as the B side" I'll aways love you" was a track I was trying to record with a local band. In fact the demo we had was paced even slower than the original and sung beautifully by the barmaid at our local! Exert of track attached if anyone is interested.02 I'll always love you part 2.mp302 I'll always love you part 2.mp3 3 1
Soulman58 Posted March 9, 2019 Posted March 9, 2019 I am in the middle of converting all vinyl 45's/12's & LPs to digital. A few things I hadn't played/heard for ages which have since been getting some airtime are
BrianB Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 Had the Marvelettes Forever compilation 2 for years and hardly played it. Put it on a few weeks ago for the commute and have been totally blown away by the sheer quality of it.
Guest Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 (edited) @Soulman58 Be careful with those multiple embedded video loads crashing the page if there's more to follow, don't know if you saw the thread about that a couple months ago in site stuff? Glad to see someone else on the 80s/90s tip. Stinger J is one of a number of releases by Kevin McCord of One Way that surfaced late 80's/early 90's, many of which were under different artist names. Worth checking the lot, especially the two LP's by Candyce from 1986/1988. The Deep Sensation B side [correct mix in video] is a mind blower, "Get Up." It's the work of a good friend of mine Colin Gate from Glasgow. Tracks sampled: Incognito "Summers Ended," B side of "Parisienne Girl" 1981 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAlHLjdSR2Y and an obscure US boogie track from 1982 that Colin gave me a test pressing of, Thunderbolt "Love Is So Funny" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KuGyFAnCcQ Edited March 12, 2019 by Guest
Smudger Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Lorenzo 2 step mix is the standout for me and have played out many times

Was expecting to see a certain James Brown track in that list but so be it. Get well soon. I put a playlist together yesterday for an upcoming radio show which gave me reason to spin these classics I hadn't played for some years: VELVET BET YOU IF YOU ASK AROUND 1973 MAYBERRY MOVEMENT I THINK I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU 1974 LOVE COMMITTEE AM I WASTING TIME 1975 BILLY PROCTOR & THE LOVE SYSTEM KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES 1975 RONNIE WALKER MAGIC'S IN THE AIR 1975 Edited March 13, 2019 by Guest
