Guest chorleybloke Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 A fanciful dilemma with Xmas round the corner... If you could have your pick of a complete run of one particular label as a Xmas prezzy, which would you choose? Think I'd probably go for Arctic Or perhaps Mello Cheers.... Gene-r Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 I'm just a humble bloke, so I'll say........Tri-Sound?
Sean Hampsey Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 An easy one for me... Motown with all subsidiaries (Soul / Gordy / Tamla etc.). A Nice prezzy. Sean

Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Stax (blue and yellow) and any subsidiary labels in both eras.... ...either that or Cosxone/Studio 1 and various subsidiaries. TONE
Jaco Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Could agree with those already posted particularly Stax, Motown but Okeh would be a truely great gift - just look at the stuff that was put up last week - OK its Tuesday, awesome. Brunswick and Cadet would get a look in too.
good angel Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Please Santa, send me the complete Shrine, catalogue, and Chess/Cadet/Checker/Argo, Thats all I want, Santa PLEASE,PLEASE. I have been a good boy. Kev
Ged Parker Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Arctic is a good shout but I'd get more new records if I asked for Shrine Thelma would also be a worthy present
Djr Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 probably Chess. I have such a soft spot for the label.
Wilxy Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 An easy one for me... Motown with all subsidiaries (Soul / Gordy / Tamla etc.). A Nice prezzy. Sean Ditto Sean, Don't need that many either now, just the Rare & Obscure Alternatively the D-Town label will do

Guest vinylvixen Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 CLOCK All together now....DOODOODAHBAH.... now then, now then....it's a tough choice - I think Thelma or UK Capitol 66 Series on demo.... or, like Tony, Coxsone/ Studio One...wouldn't that be looovely Jo
Guest vinylvixen Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 All together now....DOODOODAHBAH.... now then, now then....it's a tough choice - I think Thelma or UK Capitol 66 Series on demo.... or, like Tony, Coxsone/ Studio One...wouldn't that be looovely Jo Has anyone got a clip of Bert Keye's rollocking organ outing on Clock - 'Doodoodahbah'? A tune very close to the Big O's heart (and mine) and Randy Cozens...it was him that got me hooked Jo
Mark Bicknell Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 There can only be one true Christmas label.....Holly...lol as in Billy Arnell - Tough Girl....I'll get me Santa suit....Seasons Greetings. Mark Bicknell. Ps...on a serious note i would love to complete my Sansu run, pretty much have them all just one or two holes on the good titles, can't really see any point of completing a whole label when some of the tunes are so so, better to have the good ones me thinks and that goes for the Thelma's, Wheelsville USA's, D-Town's, Palmer's etc. etc. infact most labels produced some real Turkey's...lol sorry more festive goings on.

Guest Netspeaky Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 A complete run of the Motown stable of labels would suit me fine.
soul45s Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 A fanciful dilemma with Xmas round the corner... If you could have your pick of a complete run of one particular label as a Xmas prezzy, which would you choose? Blue Rock, some nice stuff on this label, only need a few more to complete the task

Guest rushden Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Pete , A easy one maried to an aussie i have to say anything on the SHAGG label as its like to be the only one i am likely to get regards john in da sun
Simon T Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 PM a list of those you still need as I once started to collect the label and still have 30-40+ of them in a box somewhere (sorry don't have the rare Chi lites one, or the Jimmy Hart acetate)
Sebastian Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 I'm really intrigued by the Flaming Arrow label at the moment so wouldn't mind a complete set of those... Could throw in the complete Crow catalogue as well... Or failing that, why not Charay, another label with a seriously messed up discography that issued loads of good stuff in a variety of genres.
Missgoldie Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Pete , A easy one maried to an aussie i have to say anything on the SHAGG label as its like to be the only one i am likely to get regards john in da sun John, your not trying to say aussie girls are frigid are you LOL As for the label I'd say Saadia, all stone cold mint ofcause and 2 copies of each so I had nice trades Samantha
