Guest Shufflin Posted February 3, 2019 Posted February 3, 2019 the way it's still progressive and keeps evolving, despite the NS Top 500 (great sounds no issues), going to weekenders is still a special thing, the music, getting them elususive records, the fact your kids want your records must say something, lol

Massive difference now at 62 years old dont get out much . Suppose from 1971 to 1977 it was a lifestyle . I love hearing new sounds and enjoy it when I can get out and catching up with old mates . For me nothing can touch those six years though . 1

Bbrich Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 The sheer volume of sounds to appreciate...................... {just considering the titles in the latest manship guide you could run a weekly 10 hour event for 5 years and not play a single repeat} 3

There's nothing great about the scene at present .With the one acception of the youngster's . The scene we know so well is splintered beyond repair .far to many nights far to many wannabes the only true good side is the music. The rest is a pale shade of what we had. . 2
Popular Post Bbrich Posted February 4, 2019 Popular Post Posted February 4, 2019 of course it would never happen....... I was just looking for positives and for me it is the amount of music that is available to be discovered and played. 4

That's why I put the everything . Too many do gooders, God bothers on here these days, that frown upon anything that they deem to be wrong. They forget that the nighter scene was and still is based on it. Unless your Russ Winstanley who for some reason denies it happened . Stev3 3

Guest Soul Hippy Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Passion is what makes this soul scene great! I see radio shows, i see brilliant DJs, I see committed collectors, I see researchers with encyclopedic knowledge of soul music, I see people who have travelled round the world to meet our heros and tell their stories, I see young dancers who make us feel inspired, I see older dancers every bit as passionate as they ever were, people who travel 500 miles to dance to music, I see so much enthusiasm in the quest for the perfect soul record, I see stalwarts who know there is no place like it, new people arriving who can't believe their ears, DJs from the beginning who are still there doing their thing, the diggers who keep finding the stuff in boxes, on studio tapes and bring back and release it and travel to sell it, I see promotors who inspite of difficulties carry on, a scene that continually re-invents itself and absorbs more variations on the theme, a scene that is 50ish years old and plays new releases and everything that has gone before. I see a progressive scene built on passion, its a proud heritage with wonderful people and wonderful music everywhere. No point in lamenting the past - Its gone, we should embrace the here and now, its all that matters, for me, I'm gonna make the most of it. IMO PS; The future matters a lot too. imo
