The Yank Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Something doesn't seem right about the 45- "I Am Somebody" came out on U.S. Pye so I'm not sure what it's doing on this smaller label. Isn't the flip side "Moon River" by Greyhound? There are a few sales on Popsike, two of them describe the 45 as a "reissue for the Beach Music" crowd. 1
Scootboy Posted January 24, 2019 Author Posted January 24, 2019 Yes,the flip is Greyhound Moon River, I thought that it was boot, some copies have sold for a lot of money and it made me wonder
The Yank Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 "Hey Girl" never came out on a U.S. Pye 45 but is on Jimmy's "You Don't Stand A Chance If You Can't Dance " album which is a much better alternative as far as cost goes. 1
Blackpoolsoul Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 (edited) Looks as though it's a bootleg, there's a lot more releases most are marked here as boots https://www.discogs.com/label/266087-Delta-14 Edited January 25, 2019 by Blackpoolsoul Typo 1
Scootboy Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 I checked that many DELTA releases are unofficial but this one is marked as promo only, I don't know,I'm confused, 45 Cat rates DELTA in general, as a reissue company, Hey Girl, Delta release dated back to 1975 ? https://www.45cat.com/record/dr803

Scootboy Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 John Manship says that the Delta copy is bootleg, he probably knows better, another boot in my collection

Scootboy Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 My copy was part of a job lot from US, it wasn't expensive, the song is featured in the last Northern Soul Girl video, the tune was familiar, I also like it a lot
Stephen Turner Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 It is available on LP at a fraction of the 45 price 1
Scootboy Posted January 25, 2019 Author Posted January 25, 2019 Funny thing is that the NSGL video was filmed at the exact same place where this photo was taken

Stephen Turner Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Saw them once in the late 70's ..once at Warsop in Notts...and at Chapel St Leonards with Ben E King....what a night that was 1
Billy Jo Jim Bob Posted February 4, 2019 Posted February 4, 2019 Saw them at Middlecroft Leisure Centre, Chesterfield circa '76 and they were superb. 1
Marty57 Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 Saw him too at Newark about ten years ago , think he was on at skegness weekender couple of years ago , so still doing the rounds . You don.t stand a chance album as been mentioned, track 4 a nice tune , 'supicious love' & his version of' chains of love' is a stormer too,for lovers of mid seventys soul music. 1
Tobytyke Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 Saw him at Warners about 4 years ago. He was brilliant! His output during the 60s was first rate mainly all the stuff that came out on Piccadily. Also he does the best version of Ain't no big thing and there are some great versions of that song. 1
Guest Shufflin Posted February 5, 2019 Posted February 5, 2019 nice song, and the LP can be bought in mint condition for next to nothing I wonder what happened, there's loads of cheap mint LP's (deleted copies), so record label must of over estimated popularity at the time
