There are no sizeable predators on the island, and I suspect humans found them to be not worth the trouble - especially when there are so many alternatives. But yes, a dreadful grammatical faux pas!. "Each ripple has been beautifully and individually produced using H2O and a slight breeze. The lake bottom hand sanded to facilitate pebbles, silt and a deepwater ecology system for waterborne creatures, flora and fauna. The shore line carefully placed close to local amenities and ale houses. Boats have been kindly donated by locals and seasonal visitors". The boat was in the Queen's Jubilee Regatta on the Thames on that dreadful rainy day. It's my boss's (although he's retired now). He literally, and I do mean literally, built it himself. He's not a tradesman, but like most geezers, loves to tinker in a workshop. It has about 12 coats of varnish. Like me . Link to comment Social source share

The description of the hand built lake was fabulous. Love it. Your boss is a very skilled and clever man who must be so proud of his achievements. Think they have two broods so anytime during summer would be time to visit. Guest
Beacon Fell is only ten minutes in the car from my house. The best time is really early morning. 6am. On mornings like this..... Sometimes you're lucky enough to spot deer up there. Or rather, they spot you. They stand stock still and just stare. Five minutes away is Brock Bottom, another lovely walk. I do like Ollie the Owl!
