R I P .... https://www.showbiz411.com/2018/12/14/rip-great-jazz-and-rb-singer-nancy-wilson-81-winner-of-three-grammy-awards Edited December 14, 2018 by Roburt 4
Roburt Posted December 14, 2018 Author Posted December 14, 2018 She was mainly considered much more of a jazz singer ... but did make a lot of fine soul recordings too .... 1
Roburt Posted December 14, 2018 Author Posted December 14, 2018 (edited) Her producers seemed (many times) to aim her tracks at the MOR market, but she could still put in a very soulful performance ..... personally, she liked to think to refer to herself as a 'song stylist' ... Edited December 14, 2018 by Roburt 1
Roburt Posted December 14, 2018 Author Posted December 14, 2018 She had 3 7" EP's released in the UK, some others in Europe plus quite a few '7" 'Little LP' jukebox albums in the States. Any of these would look great framed up & hung on a 'record room' wall .... nancy wilson unchain my heart 1
Tomangoes Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 So sad. R I P Hope she can duet with Linda Jones in that other place. T E O O L totally defines Northern Soul imo. The voice, the wail, the pace...pure class. Ed 3
Winsford Soul Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 R.I.P. Nancy. . The end of our love is forever etched on my heart, memories of the Casino . Steve 3
45cellar Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Extremely sad news. R.I.P. Nancy. "The End Of Our Love" has always been a favourite of mine.
Guest Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 A mind blowing track to shed light over darkness. RIP
Geoff Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Another fine singer leaves us. She covered a wide range of styles. I've always liked her version of Where Does That Leave Me. RIP Nancy.
Zoomsoulblue Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 END of Our Love As soon as the first few bars kicked in you could see people moving onto the floor into position then the vocals kicked in at the Casino - spinners loved it - one of my all time favourites - Thanks for the music and memories - RIP Nancy
Chris L Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 She did a great version of "Reach out for me" I have it on an US EP. Sleep tight Nancy
Stevie T Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 utterly outstanding Voice , jazz or otherwise , her whole heart into anything she sang , wonderful legacy
Bruv Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 R.I.P. Nancy, another Great gone, what a Voice you had, like so many others Your End Of Our Love number led me into a passion for Northern Soul. 1
KevH Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 "End of our Love" was essential for all soul boys. Will give her jazz cd a blast later. RIP Nancy.
The Yank Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 (edited) Sad to hear this. Always liked her cover of this Stylistics tune - Edited December 14, 2018 by the yank
Koolkat Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 (edited) End of our love.......Brilliant. That and Please Operator, Neverless, Anne Perry will always always remind me of my earliest visits to the Casino. Rip Nancy. Thank you. Edited December 14, 2018 by Koolkat
Michael V Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 So sad to hear of Nancy's passing-a wonderful, unique voice. 'Don't Look Over Your Shoulder' is an underplayed gem of hers(flip of 'Mercy,Mercy Mercy' ,67') Nancy's versions of 'Uptight (Everything's Alright)' and 'Goin' Out Of My Head' are my favourites of those two (both on the fine A 'Touch Of Today 'LP) She also did a nice version of Little Willie John's 'Suffering With The Blues' on an LP Although classed as a Jazz singer ,Nancy defied categorisation really, much like one of her heroes and inspirations, the great Little Jimmy Scott
Louise Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Always rated the flipside to "The End Of Our Love" , "Face It Girl ,It's Over" RIP Nancy Dave 1
Bruv Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Came across this wonderful picture of Nancy Wilson in full flow... 1

Andy Rix Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 (edited) Sad news .... basically she was just cool Another reminder that we should let those who have enriched our lives are made aware of how much impact they have made Andy Edited December 15, 2018 by Andy Rix 1
Tomangoes Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Another beauty from Nancy that used to get a few spins. Play it out if you are djing this weekend! Ed 1
Seano Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Sad to hear of this, her Wigan monster made me aware of her, so when "I've never been to me" came out in 1977 I got hold of it - turned out that the flip side was the one: "Here it comes". Nice 70s dancer with a good break at about 2 minutes in then building back up for the ending.
Chas Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 R.I.P Nancy Wilson, plenty of tributes no doubt this weekend in the social clubs, lots of tunes to choose from.
Ezzie Brown Posted December 17, 2018 Posted December 17, 2018 THANKS and good night NANCY...........super voice delivered with style and class whatever musical style she was recording in............. 1
